I had asked about a DOB by serial number on my EVH (prior to purchasing it) in an earlier posting and was told that the DOB was 10/29/93.

I made the purchase and recieved my guitar today.
All of the original papers were with it, however ...
the Limited Warranty paperwork is dated 7/11/95 and the specifications guide is dated 6/95. As I look through the specifications guide, all of the models are listed along with a picture of the guitar. That is ... except for mine, the EVH model.

In the picture, the toggle is located on the lower horn but there is no signature on the headstock or even a mention of EVH. According to the date on the guide (6/95), I'm going to guess that this was published during the transition period in which EVH was leaving EBMM.

It would be very unlikely for two different pieces of literature for a discontinued guitar to both be dated very closely together and not somehow date the guitar.

Can I get a confirmation or correction on the DOB given earlier of 10/29/93?
The serial number on my guitar is 84358.

Thanks :)

OK, you have officially confused me...nothing new (for me to be confused, that is!)

Your pic (the one that I Photoshop'ed) DOES have a sig on the headstock...are you saying that once you received it, you DON'T see it there?

Also, I would venture from number order that 84xxx puts it in the 1994 stage of production, as the first EVH I bought in 1992 was an 82xxx serial, and my current, as listed in my sig, is 84xxx, a 1994 EVH (yours, according to numbers, is actually older than mine by almost 400 guitars)

Jon and Derek are to be out for T-Day AND Friday, plus the weekend, but you can email Brian on Friday and see if he can help you out: [email protected]

The fun never ends with you, does it D? :D

I'm sorry ... I meant that the picture of the EVH in the spec guide didn't have the signature or any reference to EVH, but the switch placement was that of an EVH.

My understanding is that all of the serial plates for the EVH guitars got mixed up at some point before being put on the guitars and that EBMM just put them on at random. So, there really is no rhyme or reason to the order. I may be wrong though.

:D

Just to sum things up ...
The serial number on my EVH guitar is 84358.
I was told (I think by Jon) that the DOB on my guitar is 10/29/93.
The paperwork (warrany and spec guide) that came with the guitar is dated 1995.

Can someone PLEASE confirm the DOB? :)
