I thought some of you might get a kick of this. In a discussion with a dear friend, with whom I share an eclectic Chinese mythological interest, she provided me with this interesting background on the DOB of my two Silhouette Specials. One I call Blue and the other, Sundown.

It’s fun to entertain these symbols, and I have to chuckle at how well I can relate to them for each guitar. Naturally, each symbol goes into greater depth, such as the meanings given to these symbols.

Blue
DOB 9/10/2001
West: Virgo
East: Year of metal snake (white snake)
Sex: Yin
Month of fire monkey
Day of fire rat

Sundown
DOB 8/30/2000
West: Virgo
East: Year of metal dragon (white dragon)
Sex: Yang
Month of wooden rooster
Day of metal monkey

Bruce

Glad you enjoyed it, Lenny. If I told you how close all this comes to how I've been seeing and describing the differences between Blue and Sundown, it wouldn't be believed. But it's fun to entertain, at any rate. I got a big laugh out of "Metal Monkey" and have suggested it to my son for his jam band. Would make for a killer logo.

That is kind of neat, I may have someone look into mine and see how compatible they are.

Also.....I kind of like Wooden Rooster for the band name. They can title the first album a/k/a .............(well you get the picture;) )

You people are strange:p

eeyup, that's why we're guitar players: no one else would have us. :p

Btw, how many lead guitarists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

A: Just one. He holds it in place and the world revolves around him.

I heard it was 4. One to screw it in, and 3 saying " I could have done it better, and faster":D

BTW I have been a guitar player for 42 years. FWIW

Well, I certainly might also qualify as a weirdo or crazy when ya read this....

Worked on the side of my music for about 6 years as a professional astrologer.. Music is my first love, and it was very difficult to be both a full time musician and also be an astrologer on the side, so I had to let the astrologer part go...

Consequently, with developed astrological skills, I've done up a chart for almost every guitar I've had...

Believe it or not... it's uncanny how the description of the guitar's personalitys (sound, feel, etc, etc...) is always very accurate... Then I would follow this up with a compatibility chart to see if we (myself & the guitar) would jive...

Now you see what I call myself a "meta-fizzled musician".... I know, I know

Jon, glad I’m not the only fossil here. How old were you when you started playing?

Lucid, I know, it’s nuts, but I hear ya. An organic entity synched with the stars isn’t very hard to imagine. But a piece of wood and metal? But then as we already know, a great guitar has it’s own soul, mojo and distinctive personality, no two exactly alike, and perhaps also the soul and mojo of those who have poured themselves into making it. Considering all that, it’s not so far fetched.

Lucid,

Yes, but I read the ‘rules of the road’ the other day and it states that only guitar topics are to be discussed on this board. I could see how a topic like this could cause issues with other members who have strong belief systems to the contrary. That’s why I kept it light.

But as to your question, I offer only this quote, and then I’m off of this topic:

“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.” - Nietzsche

;)
