Has the new anniversary Stingray been cancelled? The guitar store I shop at has been promising me the damn thing since Christmas time! And I gotta say it's getting annoying! There isn't any news at all so far as I can see. All I can find is a couple of pictures. I have called loads of stores I found online. But all anyone says is that it's coming. Can I get a timeframe please? I have been holding off buying a BITCHIN' Rickenbacker bass! Just so I can try the Stingray first. But my patience is wearing thin! Sorry if I sound like a prick. But to show off the bass at a trade show and then not make any? That's just evil.

Patience m'friend. I've got a (now) 3 month wait on my bass and i'm dying for it as well! But I know the good folks at EB are slammed with these 30th Anniv. Rays.

I really would kill for my HH SR5 though. :D

Easy Chief, calm down.

Several dealers(including the Dude) were able to order the 30th anni. basses at Namm. EBMM has to make ALL of those basses up for the orders. That takes some serious time. I'm pretty sure that they do the LE and 30th basses in batches. Last year I ordered a Buttercream Bongo 5 fretless(in Jan.)and it took a bit longer because they didn't start making the LE till a month or so later-They DO have tons of other instruments to make. Just like my bass was worth the extra month and a half-so will the 30th. Since you are new here, you may not know that on average it takes 3-4 months for a bass to get to you when you order from a dealer.

I'll also say that I'm very biased but IMO there's no Rickenbacker bass that is as BITCHIN' as the 30th Anniversary. I mean we're talk'n about a mahogany body, birdseye maple neck, string through bridge, bad ass mutha plucka. I don't know about anyone else but I've been working some overtime at work so I can buy one from The Dude.:D

If your dealer promised you a 30th in December...(remember NAMM was late Jan) He needs to get current with whats going on at least. Please understand that we are getting killed with orders and ahave a limited production level. THe 30th are running through now and my best advice for someone is if they want one they better order soon as our delivery for an instrument ordred today is the first week of October. We will cease making the 30th on the last week of december.

Wow! If I had the extra scratch, I'd order one, too. But, I'm waiting for the 5 string Sterlings to come out.

This is truly the most excited I've been about anything in quite a long time. If things are close to the last published schedule, I should be getting my 30th in the next few weeks. I placed my order pretty close to the first day I was able (around Jan 4th).

I plan on playing this one quite a bit, maybe I should get a second one to keep under the bed :)

After playing and loving Stingrays for such a long time, and then getting to attend the Open House and factory tour, and getting to meet Sterling, Jon, Beth and everyone else in the EB family - I'm really looking forward to it. I've been playing for over 20 years, and this is the first bass I've ever ordered.

Thanks for the insight..............

Thanks for the quick replies guys! I am not pissed off at Ernie Ball. Just at my local dealer. They shouldn't promise what they can't deliver! I understand that it is a special item and takes time. I just keep getting the runaround. At Christmas time they started talking about it. Then in January they had fliers. I gave them a thousand dollars for one and was told "You should have it by the time your birthday rolls around". Well, my birthday rolled around the first week of February! Then it was "just a couple more weeks". Then "Looks like the middle of April". Then on the 15th of April it's "Three more weeks, DOOD". The way it looked from here, there was no bass on the horizon. And I was out a grand! So you can see how frustrating it has been.

It sounds to me like your local store has been lying to you all along. At no point would Ernie Ball have told them those dates of availability.

If I were in your shoes, I'd get my money back on principle and get one of the ones that Dude has coming in. Stores that lie should not be rewarded with a sale, IMNSHO.

Agreed. And really, Steve (Dude) and Jack (Bovinehost) will not BS you about projected delivery dates, warranty issues...whatever.

I'm already two basses into doing business with them, with no regrets!

Good deal!

I give them credit for not trying to hold onto your money, or giving you a hard time. That said, they should have simply told you the truth in the first place.

Stick around, you'll like it here.

A word of caution--Spend too much time here and you'll realize that you own far too few basses. :D

HA! They tried to keep fifty dollars as a "re-stocking fee"! I told them I would take fifty dollars out of their ass!

How the hell can you "re-stock" something you NEVER HAD!

I got my grand back. :)

So, at the risk of sounding redundant, how long until they are in stock? Dude? Anyone? :)
