i will defintely put you as a oregon hook up if we make it back to the left coast. which we should be by next summer.

also, yes, dan said he would send me one. he has always been a lot of help over the past 4 years.

yes, i do step on the cables.

what i do now, is knot the damn cable, so it doesnt have a problem.

oh well tho.

That's going to be way rough on your cables. If you're not doing it now, use a multimeter to check resistance on them regularly. Any increase tip-tip/sleeve-sleeve, throw them out.

yo, you know what it might be.. this happend to me, the connectors in my batery compartment in my sterling were bent so it was only making contact with the batiery at times, which resulted in a cut in signal. I also thought it was the cable, bcause i would stop jumping or what ever and stand still and it would go back to normal.

my cables are monster, so if they break, they get replaced.

but yeah, its not a tight knot, just anoverhand so if i do step on it, it doesnt move.

also, i had the battery compartment problem, i ended up replacing the entire electronics cluster, only to find out i had a bad solder. it sucked.

to top it off, the eq i put in, had a bad pot. ugh.

I'm not talking about them breaking. I'm talking about them losing conductance. Check the resistance... if it's more than 0.5 ohms you're losing signal... they'll still pass a signal along them, but it will be compromised.

Doesn't matter. You shouldn't be putting any sort of knot in them. And you shouldn't wind them around your arm when you're putting them away either (most people seem to do this).

I seriously suggest you check out wireless transmitters.

Do you think you maybe ought to leave the electronics of your bass alone? Not meaning to insult you or anything, but it seems you have about as much talent at that part of guitar repair as I have.

i am looking at a wireless. i just have to save a bit for them.

as for not knowing about my electronics. the first guy i brought it to, tried it out, eh said that the active elctronics were fuzzing out, because the volume and eq knobs werent working. then, i replaced them(i had also re soldered the wirse on the battery compartment at the same time) and it worked fine. the second eq i put in, had a bad pot, so eb sent me another one, i put it in, and two weeks later i had the same thing happen. i took it apart, and saw my battery lead came off, soldered it back on, and it was golden.

im awaiting my input jack now. im having all the wiring re done, the new nut, and the input jack, so all will be kosher after this.
