By the way, BP and you guys at EBMM how you decide (declare) that the top is a premium one ? is this just subjective or do you have any other criteria ?
birdseye is now reserved for the signature and anniversary models. EB once had birdseye on the Silo's but it is getting harder to source the wood.robelinda2 said:premium top= birdseye neck? you sure? thought it didnt matter what you paid, birdseye is luck of the draw.
I think a day will come (probably sooner rather than later) when figured timbers will be a thing of the past. People that think these instruments won't increase in value in the next 20 years should take that into consideration. Having said that it doesn't appear to have any impact on tone. BTW Rob I must have all your birdseye on minerobelinda2 said:my Y2D has no birdseye, oh well......
robelinda2 said:i'm not bothered at all with no birdseye, the axe plays great and what it feels like in your hands is most important. if i had gotten an upgrade top and still had no birdseye then i may be a teeny bit upset!! But as it happens i'm perfectly fine, got plenty of other EB guitars with heaps of birdseye. my luke is crazy!
ever notice how every regular Axis or Super Sport gets heaps of birdseye yet the silos get none?
