Great question, I'd be interested in knowing this as well considering the lovely Vegas climate where I reside

I've asked this question a few months back, got no responses. Pug, I'm only an hour away from you, and I agree, this wacky climate is hell on guitars.

Good question!

I found out that Wonder Wipes Fretboard Conditioner changed my fretboard. When I got my guitar it was kinda dry, when I wiped it with WWFC it became very fresh and vivid. Now it looks fantastic.

Anyway it would be great to have some professional advise on that!

Yeah - the fretboard wipes are awesome! I won't need to use them much, but boy do they make the fretboard look amazing!

I keep my guitars in their cases when I'm not playing them, so I'm hoping that helps more than anything, but I still think some humidification in the winter months wouldn't be a bad idea. It's humid as hell here in the south in the summer...

This dry Michigan winter air is brutal on guitars. I need to do something. I might order up a few of those Planet Waves instrument humidifiers. I'm going to look into a humidifier for the room too.

Someone told me to put a cut potato in a lidded soap dish, and make small holes in it, to carry in the guitar case. Thought I'd pass that idea on.

I'm in Vegas also, I've always used a case humidifier....I used to shop at Mahoney's...and picked up a 1/2 dozen of them or so....been here 10 years + with no issues so far...

Cheers!,

no kidding...
last week here in Minnesota we went from a high of like 40F on Monday (with snow melting like crazy) to about -10F in roughly 24 hours (everything froze solid again - super slippery on the sidewalks - and the air was bone dry), then back up to the mid 20's by the end of the week. Today it's about 30F and foggy with light snow...

I suppose it's needless to say that I had to do a little truss rod tweaking.

Personally I'm using a room humidifier...

If I don't during winter there is only 26% humidity in my guitar room, which is a bit too dry...

You should try to keep it between 40% and 50% all the time if possible....

I've got a room humidifier too. Set it at 40% and fill it constantly ...

Seems to do the trick. The guitars move a bit, but not too much. No fret sprout.

Emerson MoistAir 12 Gallon. What they had at Home Depot last year. A decent size given that I don't want to block a hallway, and has a digital display so I know where I'm setting it at.
