I am a huge fan of neck binding. I don't see any, but does/has Ernie Ball ever made necks with binding, or is it a custom option even?

Yes they have, and no it's not an option. It's only shown up on a few very rare custom made basses.

It's not something I have ever seen on a production model or even a limited edition. That red/blue flame one above is the only one I have seen.

Neck binding is a plastic border that runs down the side of the fingerboard. It was most commonly seen on some '70 basses. As far as I know, it was just an aesthetic thing.

It's where the neck automatically reshapes itself, "binding" itself to your own hand size/shape.

haha, that'd be sweet!!

As far as I'm aware also, it is an aesthetic thing, as mentioned above. For some reason, my mind instantly associates neck binding with decent quality... even though I am fully aware that it is not always the case.

That's too bad though. I'd really like to see an EB with neck binding.

We do now have the Reflex Bass, which has binding around the body... Neck binding can't be too far away! :)

That'd be sweet! Binding just adds so much I find. Especially double bound bodies... top and bottom... Mmmm.

But that reflex bass is extremely nice. Any word on a price range yet?

I'm thinking that due to the preamp and pickup configurations, they'll be priced around the same as the Big Al. Although, there is a mahogany tone block, which might bump it up a bit too. It's still a bit of savings from the 25th anniversary though.

I'm really hoping finances improve to allow a White/HSS before university starts up again! Binding rules!!

What is definitely the colour I feel looks the best on it as well! Also, I just noticed you're just a hop, skip and a jump away from me in Saint John!

I know about mine RX HH on order, but I think price talk on this forum is not allowed!

Anyway, I can describe price like this, it's pretty expensive bass, mine RX 5 HH have little bit higher price than any other standard HH Music Man, but still far lower than 25th!
It's very close to Bongo 5 HH price, I believe?
But I think anyway that price is very affordable, even for my low budget country standard!

If You really want it (like I do), You're gonna buy it! ;)

I like binding but non-bound fretboards really makes EBMM not look like F*nder and similar. But I'm a huge fan of wood grain more than binding - seeing naked rosewood and ebony is what I love.
