I'd be more than happy to explain how to do either the wiring or the routing. It's not rocket science, however it can be complicated if you use the silent circuit and a switch that is different from a silo spec one (which I did). If you buy the loaded pickguard, you will need to route the center and if you want the silent circuit to work, add a battery and wire it in. I also copper taped the control cavity to reduce the chance for noise. It is actually really, really quiet even with the silent circuit turned off (the switch is an on/off for the silent circuit). I found that doing a really good job of twisting the wires for any signal level stuff made a huge difference.

Oh...and if you pm customer service, they're wicked fast getting back with pdfs of wiring for any guitar you ask about.

That is my sub, by the way.....

Sticky and Jack those are great looking Subbies you have. Nicely done. And thanks for the comps. :)

+1 on the molex connectors, I've added them to both my SS modded Subs

The Blackie was my first time to rout a single coil cavity in a Sub 1. Since then I purchased a single coil router template from Stewart Macdonald and it makes the job much easier and nicer looking, more professional. A little mathing grey paint or fingernail polish finishes it well. I built the loaded guard up myself using Suhr pups, CTS pots and EBMM super-switch, no silent circuit. My blackie does have the factory guard in it with silent circuit but it's not wired up, sounds fine though. A person could mount a battery holder in the control cavity to activate the silent circuit, however you'll need a switching input jack so it gets turned off when you unplug or add a switch like Sticky has. Order a Silo Spec input jack from CS or look at this link
shorting jack and clips and stuff or you could get one of these EMG jack

You can wire up your own guard without silent circuit, it's not difficult. As Sticky also mentioned, if you use any other brand of super-switch you need to know that the EBMM switch poles are in a different order. They are not the same. Best to obtain and use the EBMM switch. If you need the EBMM SS wiring diagram PM me.
