Does the Bongo have a different preamp? I'm wondering what the advantage of the single HUM Bongo would be to a Ray especially since the Ray is the sexiest of the bunch... I'm not biased or anything??! ;)

Yes, the preamp is different.

I also think the pickup placement on the Bongo single PU is differernt.

If I'm not mistaken, the pickup is different.

Clearly, the body style and neck are different.

I think we would have to say that they are two very different basses.

Fortunately, I think they plan to keep making those Stingrays for you!

don't get me wrong... I'm NOT saying the Bongo isn't for me. As a matter of fact, based on all your ravings about them, I went to play one the other day but the music store I figured would have one didn't and stated they would get any in w/o someone placing an order. I happen to love my Rays but I'm getting more and more curious about the Bongo.

Actually I have a lava pearl HH Bongo 4 that I will give you. Right after you give me $900 or a Bongo 5!!!
