Ok, so I had the day off today and since I was still playing on the same set of strings that were shipped on the guitar, I figured it would be a good time to throw on those Slinky 10's that have been staring at me on my desk.
Well, I strung it up, adjusted the trem claw, set the intonation (which by the way was way, way out from the factory) and truss rod until I got the action at the recommended 1/16th inch. Now I never really paid any attention to it... and I'm not sure if it's even supposed to look like this, but is there something wrong with the saddle on the high E string?
(please excuse the grime and dust, I haven't had a chance to clean it yet)
It's almost as if the two set screws that hold up the saddle were set purposely so that the string height tapered down towards the edge of the fretboard (see dashed yellow line). I know they are supposed to follow the radius of the neck, but is the saddle for the high E string supposed to tilt like that? Wouldn't it be just as effective if both set screws were set equally to the same height?
