from left to right: '80 sabre, '94 stingray w/SD pup and pre, '83 cutlass strung BEAD with late model EB stingray 3 band pup and pre, and '96 20th anniv. stingray that i had to find original electronics for. i'm actually considering selling the sabre and the fretless cuz they don't get much play :(

Nice collection! MM fretlesses rock, and if I wasn't po from my recent buying spree I'd offer to buy yours before you even put it up for sale.

That Sabre looks really nice, how come you don't play it?

main reason i don't play it? i guess because it doesn't sound enough like a stingray!! i average 3-4 gigs a week and every time i try to work another bass into the rotation, i always go back to the stingray!! stingrays just seem to work best for me. i only use the cutlass on a couple of songs and as a back up. i may end up with a regular stingray strung BEAD, eventually. the sabre kicks ass, tho! it has the jazz spaced neck and i would really hate to sell it. i've tried a couple of times but i always ask for too much money hoping that nobody wants it that badly :D:D:D the fretless i actually bought mainly so i could put original EB electronics in the 20th anniv. i used to use it quite a bit at gigs but most of the time there is too much stage noise for me to hear well enough to play it as well as i'd like.

Love those Anniversary issues... that' one of the nicest looking MM I've ever seen..... ya lucky duck

BTW, Word, you should put your pic in the Picture Gallery- it's sticky (not to mention, gooey)! It'll stay there for future generations to see.... ;)

no way man, sterlings are for girls!! :D they are nice basses but to me they just don't sound like stingrays. that's why i don't have a SR5. i've owned two but neither really sounded like stingrays. i think it is mostly due to the different electronics packages in these basses. the bongos look pretty cool. i could definately see one in my future.

I know what you mean ;)
I'm not that big an I play a Sterling ! I had a Stingray and it was too big for me
I feel more comfertable with a Sterling... it's more whee whaa I can't explain it ... I Ifeel more free with it I can't jump around with a Stingray as I can with Sterling! no disrespect for all the Stingray lovers but I understand... if you wanna look more macho...: play a big Stingray ;)
As for the sound... I had a Stingray ... I like the Sterling sound ...not that I Use the toggle switch that much.. (always set it at bridge(Stingray :p ) sound)
But for me its : comfertable playing above sound .... But hey ... that's just me !! :D

Respect ! and rock on !!!

also : I like the Sabre more than the Stingray :D its's more awquard bass than the other EB MM's + it's discontinued :D  yeah !! Bongo and SUB's ... no comment  sorry
My bass = The Sterling !!!! :D It's like a part of me !!!
