howdy.

question for all, or a select few who can answer..

The bongo (calm down jack....) is generally a HH setup with fancy knobs and whatnot... ok

how does it compare in tone to other HH basses with fancy electronics

Examples:
Sabre
Wal
Tobias

I'm primarily concerned about the sabre and the wal, as the HH appeals to me, i just couldn't get my pants off for the bongo...

I'm leaning towards a wal mkII to fill my needs, as i've heard many of them and love the tone, but I haven't heard a Sabre before, never even played one!

help me homies

Sorry man, over a long period of time I've only played a Peavey Foundation, which actually didn't sound half bad with its dual "Super Ferrite" pickups until I bought the Bongo.

Personally I think you can get ANY sound you want from the dual HH Bongo, even get it to sound like a single pickup version (ala Stingray) with its pan and EQ controls. Just really versatile. So then I guess it comes down to playability. Now, I've always wanted a Wal, but never got my hands on one to try out, so I can't speak for those beautys, nor can I about Sterlings either.

Playing the Bongo for the first time was like being a kid again at the candy store..... what else can I say.

Sorry this didn't help.
