Last night I went to see a few bands, and 2 of the bassists played black Stingray 4's. Unfortunately, my cell phone takes really crappy pictures, so I had to link to pics on thier sites.

Here's a couple of links -

Let Go - http://www.letgorock.com/

Chris used a Stingray 4 into a Genz Benz head and Genz Benz 6x10. Nice tight focused sound that fit well into the mix with just the right amount of low end.

The Necronauts - http://www.thenecronauts.com/

Andrew used a Stingray 4 into an Ampeg head and Ampeg 8x10. Lots of low end, but somehow retained enough clarity to do some sick slapping.

Hey, I know who Let Go is they used to be called The Stereo right? One of my bands (Venomous Pinks) is supposed to go play some shows with them in AZ sometime this year. Some of the guys in our band used to be in a band called the Scrimmage Heroes and I guess they played some shows with The Stereo. Small world huh? I guess if we ever get out there it'll be a Stingray fest:D (BTW Let Go is a great band)

I'm not sure if they are the same guys. I have been fairly out of the local music scene for the past 10 years or so. I'm just trying to get out there are see some great music - both of these bands delivered.

When you come out make sure that you let me know.....I'd love to meet up with you, and go to the show.

Are both of thier basses the same color combo?

Andrew

They were both black on black with rosewood boards. I didn't get a chance to talk with either of them - they were both accessable, I was trying to keep an eye on my 13 year old son (who had a blast!).

Will do, I just spoke with our singer and he said that he just talked to Chris and that they are working on getting us a show right now. He also said that even in The Stereo that Chris played a Stingray and that his live tone has been amazing every time he's seen him play. I guess it's hard to sound bad playing a Ray;)

Small world, huh? Chris used to be in a band called Pollen, from somewhere back East (Philly? Pittsburgh?). They moved out here (AZ), and hooked up with my old band (G-WHIZ), and we played a few shows with them. Chris was the first guy I saw using a Stingray on a regular basis. I always loved the sound he got out of it. Very good fingerstyle player.

A few months ago we were invited to re-unite for a charity show, and I was unable to play, our singer now lives in Florida, and we always had a revoling door for drummers, so Chris, and the singer and drummer (Dan & Bob) from Pollen filled in for missing members.

Randy, if you talk to Chris, tell him Greg from G-WHIZ says Hi!

I hope you educated the young fellas on the beauty of tort?

I love me some black with red tort! I didn't talk with the boys, so I'll have to make it a point to chat with them next time.
