i went to the show last night. they kicked ass obviously. Jordan brought out the keytar for the panic attack solo/unison, which was a nice surprise.

the clinic was mind blowing, i was seated right at the front directly in front of the Lord God John Petrucci. He used his cherryburst for the clinic, and in front there was: a lefty koa, JPX 6, Pearl redburst 7, white sparkle 6, MD 6, and a BFR blackburst 6.

for the show he used the silverburst, 3 blackbursts, the black sparkle prototype that was first shown on rudess' youtube channel, and the MD on pull me under

i asked quite a few questions, regarding trills and patterns and such, but the one answer i got that is of most importance is this


NEW SOLO ALBUM THIS YEAR!!!!!

well he's starting on it at least, and this will throw off the normal DT cycle of write,record,tour, but another JP album is LOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG overdue

I would say "HOLY F***ING S***!" but I don't think that's allowed here. Been waiting for another JP Solo album and now it's starting. Well, I guess I can say goodbye for my 2011 DT gig in Helsinki. No biggies, since it's Solo Album Time! I guess It's going to be more heavy oriented stuff.

I wonder if he is going to be doing a joint recording session with DT?. I had heard that they were also going into the studio for a new album for next year in the late fall of this year.

Or maybe while Portnoy is out and about with A7X he will be recording it?

Yup. New solo album. It's going to rock, no doubt about that. Wonder if he'll use something other than the MkV's for it. I doubt it, but will be interesting to see. Maybe he'll try out the AXE-FX's capabilities a bit more for DI'ing and stuff.

Are you sure the black sparkle prototype wasn't the JPX? It's always hard to tell between the two from Youtube videos.

Well, let's see how long it takes for him to finish the album. Hopefully, it won't be too long. He started working on the bulk of that material in 2002 or so. The album didn't see the light of day until 2005. Let's hope it won't take three years to finish this time.

it was black sparkle, im 110% sure. i was 1 person away from the barrier

also just got back from the calgary show, i talked to portnoy, he was hanging out in FOH during the last half of maiden

Suspended Animation is one of my favorite disks ever. I cant wait for the new one!

How do you find out about these clinics? I'm seeing DT twice in a few weeks and was hoping JP was going to stop somewhere to do one.
