He started out using a StingRay and he's been around the block with them. All of the "making of" videos I've seen for albums usually include at least one or two ernie balls in the background as part of Myung's stable. As I mentioned on the guit side...I also play bass on my stuff, and having tried those Yamaha's...eek they feel cheap. Let's hope he comes back to the light side of the force permanently...
All I'm saying is that, if I were Yamaha and found one of my major endorsees prominently playing another brand bass on the EPK, I'd be miffed. Unless of course, he wasn't an endorsee any more.
I don't know about you guys, but I think this album is gonna kick so much ass. I'm happy to see Myung using Bongo's, especially makes me even more pumped since I'm getting my egyptian smoke Bongo 4HH in a week. The two songs I've heard off the album ("Constant Motion" and "The Dark Eternal Night") blew me away. I definitely have no doubts about this album at all. I just heard "The Dark Eternal Night" on youtube tonight and that song is full of heavy riffs and all kinds of crazy ****. Awesome. Staying on topic though, I could def. see Myung using a Bongo 6. I too think he needs to come over to the dark side. Haha.
Maybe Myung is going to moove to a Bongo 6. At least we could hear what he's playing ; otherwise you always have to listen very carefully (except on Train of Thoughts were the mix is better for the bass) to hear him.
Here is dark eternal night by DT and myung is playing the bongo. This is the whole song that was released by roadrunner records. He is missing a string though. ****Potential spoiler for those who want to wait till the album to come out****. This was also posted on the Portnoy board.

I am a huge fan of DT, and I think its pretty cool that he is going to be playing the same bass that I play (well, not exactly, but close).
I went to their myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/dreamtheater) to listen to the first single and I could tell something was different (i.e. better) in Myung's tone less than 1 minute in. I figured he was playing an EBMM based on the speculation and I have to say, it just sounds right for the band. Really looking forward to this album!!!
