The show was phenomenal! :eek: The set was pretty short, considering it's DT, and hour and 45 minutes. John played 3 BFR's and a Silhouette bass (I think, the baritone?). One with the grey burst (for most of the show), one with the brown burst and one with a red burst (I think that one is in drop-C). His sound was great and the band played really well! Myung played a black Bongo with some kind of tortoise shell (?) pickguard, and his old Yamaha for a couple of songs.

I can't really talk right now... :eek::D

Thanks for the report, Junior!:D I'm glad you enjoyed it!

The show was very good, but the first two times I saw them was much better in my opinion.
This was a stripped down version of their show. The stage was almost empty as they've cut down on their rig a lot. The sound wasn't really good (it's not their fault of course), and the setlist was way shorter than the last few times I saw them.

Their playing was great as usual, but unfortunately, since the sound wasn't very well defined, you couldn't hear clearly half of the stuff they played (all those complex solos sounded pretty much like a blur).

Now onto the guitars, BFR's look absolutely stunningly AMAZING!!! I want those guitars!!! :eek::eek::eek: They were all polished and shiny!
Bongo looks pretty cool too!

The fact that they used their secondary set-ups, their "B" rigs isn't very surprising, but it is kind of interesting. It's the same thing as when they went to some Asian dates and South America on the last tour. I didn't realize Croatia would be a place where they would do the shows with the "B" rigs.

nice pictures!

i think they used less gear due to the reason, that it isn´t "an evening with DT" and they only play half of the time and that there are other bands on stage as well on the actual tour.
and you all know, less gear to carry away after a gig means shorter breaks between the bands......

They were using the full rigs at earlier festival shows. They also did shows with the full rigs during the Gigantour shows here in the U.S. I think it's just cost-reduction like when they went to some Asian countries and South America.

I wouldn't really call 'em "B rigs". OK, you're right, Portnoy did have a smaller setup then usually, "only" a double bass, but that doesn't bother me. Petrucci on the other hand had this exact same setup, only with a Silhouette bass. Rack, 2 cabs (both miked), 4 guitars, pedalboard. The cabs he usually has are 'for show' only 2 are actually miked.

Actually, I think JP might have called it a B Rig in the Systematic Chaos DVD. It looks like the G3 rig.

MP's drums look like the left side of his Octavarium kit.

Oops! My bad. I thought someone here called it that.

Well... they just didn't need it. You can see that 4 out of 6 cabs on the Milan gig weren't miked.

Doesn't matter anyway, it was a great show. :)
