I think it was Scenes from a Memory. He joined EBMM in 2001 and Scenes was released on, of all days, September 11th, 2001.

Way, Way off...

SFAM was recorded with the Ibeenhadz...that album came out 10/26/99 there was obviously some R+D by late 2001/ early 02 before the JP 6s+7s started shipping...Live Scenes came out on 9/11/01...and subsequently got yanked due to the cover art...JP started using EBMM Protos on tour for 2000 SFAM tour (after the record was in the can), I saw the winter show at Roseland (before the summer show that LSFNY was recorded at) w/ the Dregs and he'd played 1 sparkley bluish 6 proto...7's and the Home guitar were Ibanez at that show...by the LSFNY show he had several protos...

Thanks.

My interest in this band is growing daily so eere's another question.
They have 3 live albums plus a live EP (maybe more), which one is the best?

Get the studio albums first...

in order:
when dream and day unite
image and words
live at the marquee (live ep)
awake
A Change of Season (ep)
falling into infinity
once in a livetime (live cd/ video)
metropolis 2: scenes from a memory
live scenes from ny
six degrees of inner turbulance
train of thought
live at budokan
octavarium

Budokan is the best live package, but if you can get the DVD...

More like 2 years,a tour, a live dvd and two guitar companies lol...I'm a sucker for the details...3 if you want to get technical before the JPs made our hands happy....

and before this turns into a flameout of max proportions...Cud I didn't mean to come off like a Richard, just emphatic about some of this stuff...speaking of which, you gonna have anytime this summer for a sit down or so?

The DVD I have. It is good.
So is this in order of "better to worse" or just how I should submerge myself into the band?

Jon, ain't no problem at all man! ;)

I kind of made an educated-guess. I think I read in the Ernie Ball manual that JP joined forces with them in 2001. Then, I remember the 9/11/01 release because I was watching the LSFNY DVD and thought they were talking about the album, not the DVD.

And absolutely, I'm down to hang. June is absolutely shot in the ass but July and on is good.

Peace!

Images And Words is thier DEFINITIVE album. Absolutely start there. Especially if you are into prog (Kansas is a very prevailing influence that comes through on that album, probably because DT are also from the US.)

Then to see how they have progressed through the years since that album get thier new one Octavarium. It litterally has all the aspects they have added to thier repetroir since IAW and definately shows much of what they are capable of as a group. Those two along with Awake are definately the albums that will be going with me when I can't take all of them.

Octavarium is like Queen's A Night At The Opera and Images is like Queen II. Both masterpieces with ANATO having a more diversified palette.

I reckon anyone new to DT should start off with Awake or Images and Words - still great albums :) After that, pick up Change of Seasons ep - that is amazing :)
