Dropped tuning

Hi all,
Just curious to hear if anyone has ever attempted to use low tunings/heavy string gauges on a EBMM Axis? (other than the standard dropped d-tuna)

I was thinking of putting 11-56 or 13-60 guage strings and tuning down to B, but I'm not
too sure if the neck will be able to handle the heavier gauge strings etc.

Has anyone attempted to do this?
Will the neck need an adjustment?
I don't want to take it to the service guy/guitar shop cos they are a rip off, period...but if I have to..well

i have a guitar tuned to B with 12s, works great. don't forget to have your axe setup properly. and action is going to turn out higher than it currently is.

If you're not trained properly to intonate a guitar, you should seek someone who can. You will be fine.

Yeah, that's a huge thing also. Find a reputable, privately owned shop that specializes in this. No disrespect to a lot of places out there, but intonating my guitar while glancing back and forth between a manual doesn't exact resonate a feeling of assurance.

It takes a lot of experience to make sure the truss rod gets adjusted correctly, that the action is set evenly and at your preferences, and to make sure the fine tuning on the saddles are intonated to your playstyle.

This too. This might also cause problems if you want to go back to smaller gauges in the future.

Plan ahead.

Another question concerning heavy strings: I would have to replace the nut when I go back to lighter strings, right? Is that easy, especially when I have a compensated nut?

My hardtail sub is playing with super low action using 11's in c# or drop b with good string tension. I used Drew's method to adjust the truss rod and it was very easy and needed very little intonation.

The power slinky largest string is a 48 where other brands had a 52 there i would have needed more nutwork. I was able to pop these 11's on with no issue since my nut was cut for 10's.

The heavy bottom set had the 52 which would have been to big, but I'm not tuning quite as low.

So you're using the set with the 48 lowest string, right?
I got 46 at the moment. That's where I want to go back to if restring. Shouldn't be that much of a problem. Any more experiences on that topic?

I regularly ran my SUB down in D standard with heavy slinkies without an issue. If they ever made a 24 fret SUB, I'd start selling body hair for it.

Its got a locking nut, alot wider than a non locking nut

Ive also measured it and placed a 52 in it just see if it fits nicely, just not sure if the strings
will be too floppy tuned down to B.

Though I reckon if it was setup like a floating floyd rose there'd be more tension
