a lot of amplifiers will colour your tone in ways we dont really want.
Thats why the old valve amplifiers are still popular.
They dont usually do that.
I've played a nice stingray through heaps and heaps of different amps live,
at one time I even bought a hand made valve 400watt amp from the company that I had hired it from, because of how clean it was.
Now I just play through a medium sized P.A.
small mackie desk, power amp and 2 horn loaded 15" JBL.
I have a graphic I can pull into the chain, for really weird rooms etc...but that is rare.
The P.A. does the same job for me as this bass is getting going direct.
Your Stingray doesnt need any sweetening...drink it straight.
and for the record...I played mine through a heap of amps this afternoon...
IMHO...the Markbass was left wanting.
However, I was very impressed by a very clean and sweet sounding epifani solid state amp into 4 x 12....now thats an amp do your stingray sound justice.
and as I told the guy at the store,
I'm hard to please...
