dammit, all these new BFRs and not a single figured Silhouette...
Not in NAMM08, but doesn't the Silo 20th count as what you'd want?

Anyone have a full frontal of the JP LE?
unfortunately the 20th doesn't do anything for me... i'd really like a figured HSS silo special (with a floyd rose trem would be extra nice too)
but hey, that's just me, whatever...
I'd imagine that BFR Silos are on their way... I don't know that for sure, but it seems a pretty safe guess that given the 20th, that they felt it logical to have it be the last BFR.
You're not going to get a floyd though. lol
the sad thing is, a lot of these guitars are almost made to order right? its not like EB makes a hundred million of each guitar and saturates the market with them...
people call up and order guitars and have to wait forever to get them... so why are there so limited options and variations available?
i've built guitars from complete scratch before (neck and all), i know what goes into building a guitar... for mass producing guitars you might have to do a little bit of retooling to accommodate a few different options but it's not rocket science and i really can't see how, at the request of a customer, building a silo with a floyd again would be that insane or cost prohibitive... regardless of whether tons of people want them these days or not... they put them on some of the other guitars, why not make it an option? they used to make silos with floyd back in the day
i want an HSS silo, but i want translucent finishes over high quality figured woods, i also want a fully floating, usable trem that stays in tune...
i love my silos but i keep thinking every day more and more that i need to start looking elsewhere for my new #1 guitar
what gives poppa?
(please don't take this the wrong way... i love the EBMM guitars but i feel like the production and options are overly limited... every time a new color finish is released it's like a huge deal over here... as if someone came up with an entirely new guitar design... i don't get it)
What gives is that there are literally thousands of options available as it is, and only so many people to build guitars. hence the wait time. EB doesn't mass produce guitars in the same way Ibanez does. They have thousands of orders, all very unique. They don't pump out three hundred yellow Silo Specials and ship them off to stores that order them.
You may know what goes into building a guitar, but I don't think you really have a picture of the way EB does it, and what is involved in building that many custom order guitars at some semblance of mass production quantity.
So, the problem isn't adding one more option and having to pull a floyd off the shelf... the problem is adding potential for hundreds of more different kinds of orders to come in thus making the wait even longer.
What gives is that there are literally thousands of options available as it is...
Here's a closer picture from the JP LE 2008 :

Here's the thread he made (some other pictures in it as well) :
my little NAMM review with a few pics - John Petrucci Forums
i understand that... and i do have a lot of respect for what EB does...
it does sound like their production line is inadequate though... at least by the modern american's instant gratification kind of attitude...
but whatever, it keeps the demand high and the value up right?

There wasn't a Tobacco JP at the show but there was a LUKE...
