So I'm playing my new AL unplugged last night, and I notice that my A string seems dead. Hadn't really noticed it before...I start fooling with the saddles and trying to figure out what it could possibly be. The E and D seem fine, just the A seems dead...no rattles or buzz, it just seems muffled.

I'm about to post a query here, and the brilliant idea of changing the strings enters my head, though I don't think it will help.

Duh. Freaking rings like a bell now.

I'm even happier than I was 3 days ago when it arrived, because the store I bought it from must have set it up with some crappy bargain basement strings...now it sounds fantastic. That thing is so resonant it woke my girlfriend up 3 rooms down even unplugged.
