Not meaning any disrespect to you, Cat Empire, but if you don't want any negative comments...don't open yourself to places where people feel free to post negative comments or pick fights. (no matter how stupid their arguments may seem)

I envy your new aquisition, but not all people agree with us here. Those people who upset you may just have been seeing how far they could push you.

Out there you open yourself to any comment anyone wants to throw at you, much the same way that people feel free to bash on other brands on this forum.
This is a close community here and a good place to hang...if I let all the bashing of brands I own and play offend me...I would not have the benefit of the broad knowledge base that resides here.
Expect a$$h0les everywhere...feel fortunate BP provides us with a place to meet and converse with other EBMM enthusiests. You are safe and among friends here.:)

At least the trolls didn't come to Poppa's house to post their negative comments.

Well I used to think my Yamaha RBX 100 whidh I bought on eBay for $90.00 was just as good as any P-Bass but not as good as Msicman.

i have a RBX (doesnt work any more though) and it was by no means a bad bass. I think its one of the best beginner basses around.

and dont worry eddy, no offence taken mate, i guess it just didnt occur to me that anyone might not like the look tone or whatever of my 30th. Most people there did, but oh well, lesson learnt i guess. I'm well over it now and am having a blast playing (and cleaning) my 30th :D

eh ignore em. i bought some ibanez once (my 2nd bass) for about $600 at GC. the sale guy set it up awesome for me and the skinny neck and i got along... at the time i loved it. i remember telling me dad something like "why would anyone spend $600 on a bass... this thing is awesome".

a bit later i got a sterling and things changed. my experience was that i was decently happy with my instrument and didnt have enough experience to know what quality and tone and feel were. i just didnt know any better. mind you, i never bashed anyone else's choices.... but personally i was ignorant re: instruments at the time. but once i played some better gear i realized that ibanez sucked.

that ibanez is long sold and even with my current crew of 6 MMs and 2 pretty good parts basses i look back and regret ever buying that thing.

so ya... ignore em. + its myspace. i cant take anything on that site seriously

I say each to there own as well.:D
I've tried a lot of Fenders and can say for me the feel or sound was never there.
So I don't own one. My Godin BG5 Is now about 8 years old still sounds and feels good BUT not as good as my MM Bongo5. This bass (Bongo5) is trully awsume.
I just couldn't cosider a Cort $250.00 bass. But each to his own.
The Godin has been a real work horse, rehersals and gigs almost every week, for 8 years though have taken their toll on the Godin..Varnish on neck is worn off already Body finish is getting thin, it cost only 1/2 of what I paid for the Bongo5.
I guess It's been played too much.. I'm hopeing the Bongo will survive the same kind of punishment..
Any way I guess I've taken this a bit off topic..didn't mean to just happend.
I never put another bass player down I ownly encourage, no matter what they play.

Cheers

well i was showing off my new 30th stingray over a bass group on myspace and the majority of people were suitably impressed :D

I know many here do this as well, but as you've admitted, you were showing off and have to be ready for negative reactions as well as the positive. Personally, I think the 30th's are about as beautiful as it gets, but . . . And even though I really enjoy seeing posted pictures of members' basses, it's not something I choose to do.

To each his/her own.

...........

If the guy loves his Cort, good for him. I WISH I could be happy playing basses that cost $250.

Bingo! that's the response. Tell the guy YOU'RE jealous of HIM because he is happy playing a cheap instrument.

...yeah yeah! and then tell him his playing is bad and he should feel bad! And maybe a "yo momma so fat" joke as the nail in the coffin! BOOYAH

Whatever works for you..

I believe a recent bass magazine has an interview with Billy Cox, and there's a photo of him playing a Cort.
