I know its been asked before...but im going to do it again. Any chance of a new earthwood acoustic bass guitar in 2011? Im currently working out a deal on a pre loved tacoma thunderchief... But if there is any chance ill see an earthwood relaunch ill stop talking.

A new Earthwood bass?

I asked this very question to the Ernie Ball folks at NAMM 2010 and they very patiently explained to me that
1. The legal rights to the design of the Earthwood Bass had been sold to someone else at some point and
2. They are not set up manufacturing-wise to produce the bass now, it would take a whole new production from the ground up, which would not be cost effective.

I wish whomever owns that design would license it to a factory in the far east so we could at least have an affordable close approximation of the bass. I had to sell mine 3 years ago when my finances went south and have missed it since.

Bummer. Not keen on the far east concept, but a "reissue" from a quality source might be cool... Although I'd prefer if the SLO elves and BP rubbed their magic mojo on it.
