Earthwood Strings.

Hey guys and dolls.

Don't snap my head off for bringing up the question and using the competition's names, but I have to... and you'll see why.

How do the Earthwood acoustic strings compare to D'addario, Martin and Elixir strings? Longevity of sound clarity? Feel? Et al...

Reason I ask is that firstly, I do not have an acoustic to try them out myself. In the past, I've played the previously mentioned competitor's brands. Secondly, I am trying to get some more EB stuff into the guitar store I work at, and some positive feedback regarding these strings would be great. I need some really good ammo to attack the bosses with so that they get how good these strings are...

I've not been let down by any other EB stuff, so were I to push REALLY REALLY hard, I could probably do all the leg work myself... I'm just lazy, and want to know what everyone else thinks.

NOTE: This is not intended to be a glorification thread for the other brands. I'm only looking for positives of Earthwoods, and drawbacks... not highlights of the other brands.

+1 on the acoustic Slinkys. Haven't tried the Earthwoods, but the acoustic I bought recently came with D'Addario coated strings on it, which I hated. Switched them out for acoustic Slinkys and I love them.
 
I've used Elixir Nanoweb, D'Addario 80/20s and the EB Earthwoods. I dont like the feel of the coating on the Elixirs, but they did sound nice and lively. The D'Addarios sounded flat after about 4 hours of playing, while the EB Earthwoods sounded better for longer. I'd still like a little more sizzle on the top end from any string on my acoustic, but I have been most impressed with the Earthwoods than any other type so far. I still have some Acoustic Slinky strings to try out and will get to it this weekend.
 
I feel like a heel, because I didn't even know that Slinky acoustic strings existed. I have since approached my boss and told her that we need to order in a test run of these... the name recognition alone will help us to sell a bunch... and it doesn't help that myself and the other guy on the floor own a total of eight EBMM's... we can sell a MM to anyone, and as soon as the strings come in we'll sell them too.

The EW"s are nice and bright, very happy sounding and sound sweet when broken in .. and a great deal, they also smell like maple syrup.
The Slinky Acoustics sound more mellow than EW's, but nice and warm, a lot of people use them when heading into the studio.

Just wait till the coated strings come out though. You can't see the coating, but makes a major difference in the string. It's starts off as an 80/20 set, gets a nice protective coating on the wounds and a gold plating on the plains ... not to mention the titanium wrap around the lock-twist. I think that will be the sizzle you're looking for Pete.
Jimmy, it'd be nice to here how the Slinky Acoustics do in the shop for you!
 
I'm busting my hump to support the things I love... you know, getting two forumites Dargie Delights... sending my old Silhouette Special acros the country to a well deserving frenchman. Now I am getting my work to support y'all too! We're now carrying and selling Slinky 7-strings and RPS 9's and 10's. The Slinky Acoustics are next on the list... but an advisory will be made that we wait for the coated ones. Sounds like a good plan!
