What was the deciding factor, if you don't mind me asking? (....says the curious guy who recently purchased the GK 1001RBII.)

Oh well there's a loaded question. Are you talking gigging or more personal playing at home? (I know you're on line right now.)

Well, i'm just looking for something a bit warmer than what my GK puts out.

I don't really want to rid myself of my 1001 yet. I still LOVE this head (espeically through my 2 EBMM HD210s). You're purchased yourself a great amp!

On the 104HF, i'm wondering about how well it sits in a mix.

Thanks Stanky, I think so too so far. Althought I'd really like to try out the LMII on a gig, it might sway me more than it did at the store. Hopefully we'll see some Markbass at the Desert Jam!

To quote adouglas from the other active thread: "A tone that punches through and sits well in the band mix sounds (to my ear) kind of honky and midrange-heavy when played solo."

When listening to the 104HF when playing by myself, I think it's alright. I like the Epifani's much better for that. The Markbass is not as high fi and the tweets don't have the clarity of the Epifani's. I sort of equate this to the scooped sound I like when playing by myself where the lows are low and the highs are high.

On the other hand, in terms of a gigging cab, the 104HF is awesome in the mix. I think it's got a great ability to cut through. That's why I quoted him cause I think that's where this cab is really good. To cut through and give a presence in a pocket that I think my other cabs lose (or I have to tweak to get). But that tone itself may not be one that I would have necessarily chosen by myself. And perhaps my ears are not as well-trained as others, but the high end of basses sort of gets drowned out by all the other upper frequency stuff going on in a band so perhaps its superfluous. The Sterling and the MB+104HF cut through like a razor.

I say you keep the GK gear and wait til you can have both that and MB! I mean like so what if somebody said, I can't choose between a Bongo and a Stingray.
