Well, thanks to Paul, I now have some EB flats that i've put on my single H SR5. I've tried flats before of a SR4 and couldn't stand them. They were of a brand I will not mention.

But these EB flats are just amazing. They're about bright enough to slap. Cut through tone with PLENTY of low end. These things are just blowing my mind.

Granted, I prefer my super slinkys. These flats are staying though.

I've been thinking of trying some ever since I played Paul's bongo with the EB flats on it. One of the first things I noticed about them were how bright they were for flats. I tried a little slap on them too.

I have them on the BP Bongo but haven't had a chance to give 'em a workout just yet.

Yes, Sterling, I have EB Flats on the BPB! I have Super Slinkys on the sparkle Sterling!

I'm trying. I really am.

Strings are like underwear. If you wear briefs, boxers feel weird. If you were boxers, briefs feel like alien skin. I am wearing boxer briefs.

Man I have tried to like the TI flats -- had them on several basses -- but they just feel too much like senior citizen golf shafts! When I get old and can't handle a man's string anymore, I'll switch over to those noodles. I kid... I kid... :) btw, The EB flats are VERY good strings.

Flats really aren't grandpa strings. :)

they get the rock and roll done just fine. IMHO

I'm not talking about "flats" I'm talking about TIs... I love a nice set of heavy buttery flats!

Flats were around before Rounds, they are being re discovered.

I have never tried the EB Flats. Chromes are the only Flats I ever tried and I've been satisfied ever since. But I will give the EB's a whirl just to see what all the rukus is about.

Young whippersnappers won't leave me to play my Bass in peace............:D

Hello, visiting from the guitar side, because eventually, I'd love to have a bass.

What's the difference between flats and rounds? Is it just feel?

I have a set of EB flats waiting for my bongo that I hope will show up next week.
I like the higher tension and brightness they have compared to the TI flats.

All this talk of flats combined with the influx of motown and old zepplin (though im not sure JPJ ever used Flatwounds just sounds like he did on some stuff) really makes me want to try some. I'd just hate to spend that kind of scratch just to find that I didn't like them.

Feel, tone, thump, less finger and board wear

Just checked the products section of the EB site and I didnt find a five string set of flats. I guess you have to buy a 4 string set then a single B?
