Decided to try fretless..Can't afford to buy another stingray so thinking of replacing current neck with a fretless one.Anybody know where I can purchase one? thank you
You can find them everywhere, but they are
ALWAYS attached to a MM bass body. If you
just wanna "try fretless", get you a 3rd party
neck and "try fretless". EBMM necks have no
graphite inserts, so you won't lose anything
on that score. And you won't wind up with a
2nd rate fret job, so thaz also not a problem.
Better still, you might even wind up with an
ebony FB which is not offered on regular MM
FL necks. And .... you might be able to order
your neck with lightweight tuners [Hipshot or
such] which are not gonna be on any used
MM instruments right now [later, tho ... ].
I had a fretless ray (like you, wanted to give it a try), decided it wasn't for me. So I listed the neck on the for sale and wanted to buy sections here as "for trade" and found someone who wanted a fretless neck and had a fretted to offer. Swapped and we're both happy.
Option 2: See if someone wants to trade Stingrays.
