What is the differance between the EB MM JPX-6 Truss Rod vs. Standard Top Mount (headstodk area)?

With a top mount or headstock truss rod you only move it a quater turn and it is NOT used to adjust you action.....normally you adjust your bridge/floyd rose tow bolts.

With the EB MM I understand the bottom truss rod wheel is used for both neck and action. Can anyone explain the differences PLEASE!!

This applies mainly to new instruments. We've got a great team of set up technicians that set up each instrument with precision before the instrument ships. After the instrument ships the neck may encounter back or fore bow (due to changes in temperature and humidity) which will inherently affect the action. A truss rod adjustment will then return the neck and action to factory spec as no other aspect of the set up would have changed.

The EBMM truss rod works exactly like the other truss rods. The only difference is that it is much more easy to adjust it. You don't need a specific tool, you don't need to remove a truss rod cover ...
The debate on how to adjust string height, action and so on is not specific to the EBMM truss rod.
Personally, I adjust all my guitars (EBMM and non EBMM) just with the truss rod. If the factory setting is not correct, you have perhaps to adjust other parts, but when you have done it once (or if the factory setting is good like on the EBMM guitars), you just need to compensate the variations of you neck with the truss rod.

Thank you for the answer.

It seems to me with the top truss rod they tell you to move it just a 1/4 turn. I notice with the EB MM they tell you a turn at a time and a turn is from one side of the guitar to the other on the wheel.

For example. On my Ibanez if the neck has too much bow I adjust the truss rod. For the action I like it low, so I check it at the 12th while holding the first and last fret low E. If I need lower action I adjust the two bolt/allen screws one on each of my floyd rose.

EB MM as I understand it is all done with the wheel truss rod and they do not mention anything of the two bolts/allen on the trem to lower the action. Is this correct? I just want to make sure I fully understand the action adjustments.

I thank you!

I've been working on a "strat" type guitar over the last 2 weeks. It has the headstock truss adjustor, via an allen key. With the strings in place and what with the string trees it is very awkward to:-
1)Get the key located in the truss rod (and you have to have the right size key)
2) turn the key as the strings are in the way. I can see people damaging the nut by turning the key too far, putting excess movement/pressure on the string in the nut slot, potentially causing the nut to break out.

With the EB wheel you don't need a specific tool.

By far the best way I have come across to adjust a truss rod.

Hi Nav.

Beej s a moderator - has been on here for some time and is a great contributor to the forum. His speciality is with guitar electrics.

This place is the best run forum on the inter web, and as in real life it sometimes takes a while to "make friends, and get used to the new surroundings".

Let's just put bit down to first impressions and move on. Sometimes it takes a while to get a reply, but Customer Services (AJ) went the extra mile and went onto the factory floor and got the measurements for you.

I didn't take the reply as a big hit of sarcasm - but I'm thick skinned and "aged" :)
If I took offence at a reply I had many years ago I would have flown the nest - but later realised that what had been said was with "tongue in cheek".
I put an enquiry onto another (FX) forum 3 months ago and I'm still waiting for a reply!!
