EB MM Sabre w black hardware. Leaky Pick Ups!

Hello All! I just got a brand new EB MM Sabre with black hardware and there is some type of stain around the pickup poles on both pickups Looks like it might be wax that oozed out but it is dry and does not wipe off. More of a dry stain... Anybody seen thing before? Thanks, EQ

Agreed. Bought at GC...Great price and everything else about the guitar is perfect. But for $3K plus, it ALL needs to be right. Just hoping somebody has seen it before or had a magic fix. Probably will just return it and order another. Thanks!

That may be residue from the plastic protective film that is usually on pickups when they are shipped from the factory.

Try a 2 sided jewelry cleaning cloth.

That is exactly what it is - much more noticeable on black pickups!

Would denatured alcohol take the finish off the pickup? Because it would certainly remove the residue...

Naptha is the solvent of choice for all guitar stuff. Effective and evaporates fast enough not to soften some delicate finishes.

Definitely Naptha. It doesn't have the water in it that Isopropyl alcohol does.

You are the man Kev. As much as I used that stuff when I was building houses, I don't know that I would have stopped myself from using it here. I'd have probably paid for it too...
