Hey all I'm probably going to get slaughtered here asking this question. I am in the process of getting my second EBMM Petrucci 6 and was thinking of buying a EBMM 7 string but guess what popped up on Ebay? A Mark IIc+ combo in Imbuya wickercane? What would you all do as I'm not exactly a millionaire?LOL

I think that alot of the inflated price is due to hype. I used to own a II C+ 60/100... nice amp (tragic loss but thats another story). IMO that amp didnt sound any better than the Mark III that replaced it.

I'd buy a less expensive Mesa and for a couple 100 more, get the JP7 too. Unless you are just hung up on what Petrucci used to play!

EBMM#3 or Mesa MarkIIC+

Devnor,
Not actually stuck on what Petrucci used more on what Allen Holdworth used to use. I have too played a Mark IIC+ cept it didn't have the EQ and the thing smoked. Hands down the best sounding amp I ever heard. I have a Quad running through a 2:90 right now wich pretty much sounds just like it. But I would like to have the Holy Grail of Metal amps too lol.

You can always by another Petrucci. You never know when another chance at such a sweet amp will come along. Get the Mark IIC+.

John Petrucci would.

If you like the amp buy it. Amps are way more important than the guitar. You can always get the JP next week. ;)

I think a good amp will make a cheap guitar sound good where as a cheap amp will make a nice guitar sound like crap. I still think haveing a good playing guitar is super important too.

i agree that the amp has a bigger impact on your tone than the guitar but playability and alot of the tone comes from the guitar i think its a 60/40 split.

Is there any way you can check out the IIc+ before you buy it? I think in the past year I've seen a whole lot more "IIc+"'s on ebay than Mesa ever made if you know what I mean. Something tells me there are some guys out there trying to doctor some older II's into IIc+'s. As for the sound of them, they're fantastic.
