Hey guys. I know alot of you are using GK amps and cabs so I wanted to hear some feedback on your prefered settings. Just curious on some of the tones you guys like. Thanks

Treble-12 oclock Boost- 1 to 2 o'clock
High Mids-11 o'clock Contour- 9 o'clock
Low Mids- 1 o'clock Presence- off
Bass- 12 o'clock Input Volume-9 to 11 oclock
Master- usually no higher than 12 o'clock

If i'm using both cabs(GK Neo 2x12's) I will use those settings with the input pad(-14DB) in and it's still loud enough to be heard and felt over two Mesa Triple Rectifiers and a really loud drummer.With one cab I use those settings with the input pad out and it's still pretty loud although with half the speaker area of the other setup it's not moving near as much air.........With the two cab setup i've had soundmen take me completely out the P.A. in a 500 person club and my rig kept up fine. In my house I barely open the master and volume with one cab and it's shaking the walls.tkarter said:
Well, with a Bongo, even if you like it loud and louder, first thing is to hit the padding and set the gain knob somewhere below 9 o'clock. On the 4-knob GK EQ I actually set the bass below center detent, low mids up from center. The settings aren't too far from flat, so I do tone mostly from the 4-band on the ax. Obviously, a lot depenz on the cab you use. Mines got a horn with dial, and I keep that at about -5db. Annalot deep ends on strings too. The main thing with a Bongo is you'll prolly do most of your tone from the knobs on the ax.hankSRay said:

Yours must be big time different than mine. On my 1001RB-II, and with both of my Bongos, I can run the input gain at 12:00 and NO pad, Bongo dimed, and unless I really add an obscene about of lows on the bass tone, I can't get the clip light to show . . . . .

I'm referencing my RB400-III. The Master is at about 1/3 but the boost is at about 2/3. The Bongo is just really hot.tadawson said:
I guess a somewhat more global way to explain it is that I play many types of basses thru this rig. Along with *very* few other basses, the Bongo absolutely requires padding and a rather low gain setting. Many basses play unpadded, gain and master both above 'noon'. This same difference exists with other heads as well when comparing the Bongo to most other basses. Must be those WalMart 9v batteries.

My settings with Bongo are like Golam says...hot output from bass. I play into -15 gain on amp 2.5 (9-10:00)...master 5 (12:00) high and low switchs engaged...bass at 8...treble 8....mids...5....is VERY loud. Bongo is cranked full on...mids boosted and low end and treble 3/4 full.

cool beans guys. after some extensive knob twiddling today I think I've keyed in on a tone I'm very happy with. Seems that before I wasnt paying enough attention to my contour and presence knobs on the 1001 rb. And if any of you guys feel like hearing what I'm hearing out of your set ups, here it goes.
Input volume: 11 oclock
Contour: 9 oclock
Presence: 9 oclock
Treble: 10 oclock
Hi Mid: 12 oclock
Low Mid: 1 oclock
Bass: 12 oclock
Boost, Tweeter, Woofer: all at 12 oclock
Thats all with the pad button as well as all the other buttons out, and as for my Sterlings controls Treble rolled back, mids at center, bass just cracked open and the switch to the bridge. I have band practice 2morrow so we'll see how well this works in the mix, I think it should do well.

I doubt your speaking of the RB's but I figured I'd throw up how I set my GK400
I Use a Pick so everything is at 12 o'clock with the three conour buttons I have the middle one in and and highs and lows are out.
i then run my bass EQs (as with all my amps) trebs are flat, mids are flat, and bass is about an 1/8th of a turn past flat.

I have a 20-year-old 400RB, and I set the 4 tone knobs straight up at 12:00 with the 3 contour buttons & input pad all out. I crank the master all the way, boost at 12:00, and I adjust the volume for, well, volume. Controls on the EBMM basses start out flat, and they usually don't have to stray too far from that to get a great tone.
