Here is the resaon why no six string basses. RETAIL. There are only so many hooks on the wall..I have nothing against the 6 string bass, but the market is very, very limited

This is what I was guessing. It just makes sense. Thanks for the insight, BP - I see this question asked a lot on other forums and I'd rather answer it with facts than with a guess.

I hold hope for one yet. Seeing as how this year they just about did everything you could ever do to make the 4 and 5 string models kill every other bass on the market.

Well I am guessing there of course as I am sure they will think of something more special but.. right now I just don't see it cuz of the dual pup SR5 GAS.

That's the first time I've used photoshop... it's pretty easy really. The tricky bits were the position markers and the strap button. The string spacing is a bit wonky towards the 12th fret.

I'm going to have a go at a double necked 11 string Sabre next. Maybe. :D

Nice photoshop job !

I'm pretty sure there are people waiting for EBMM producing 6 strings. There are a bunch of bassist diging 6 strings and more (throw an eye on John Myung's forum) and some metal bands using mor than 4 strings (korn, messhuggah (using 8 strings basses)...) got more bassist considering such instruments.
Not really my cup of tea. I think that it's more like playing piano, needing particular tech (like taping). It can fit in some music styles and I'm always amazed to hear what people can play on such instrument. But to drive the rythm, 4 stings are way enough (5 if you have the shoulders to carry it) to my taste.

That makes sense. You could defintely sell a six if someone like Tony Levin were out playing it.

Not likely as he asked for a 3 stringer last time around!!!!

I have a SR5 and some months when I have the urge to play really low i'll use the low B but mostly I don't use it often enough so I put a high C on the top, E,A,D,G,C and I use that a lot, it's really good for finger tapping and extra harmonics and victor wooten type stuff, where you can get a good higher pitched melody going. The low B string just gets in the way sometimes. Plus with my band I play my sterling in C tuning so it goes C,G,C,F similar to drop D tuning but down a step. And I like to have my E tuned down so it becomes a problem when I play my SR5 because G,C,G,C,F is way too low and if it's tuned to anything else I won't use it. So the high C really comes in handy there.
