The pups on the Axis are amazing, no doubt about that.
+++++ I've had a few Wolfies years ago, nice but once I saved for an EVH they were gone. I've been all around in search of that great feel and tone again, finally went back to an Axis and won't leave again. From the pups to the neck, it just all makes sense and feels so right. When it's right - the playing is effortless.

when buying a guitar dont listen to ANYONE.

Like Poppa said there are so many great guitars out there.

But guitars are such a personal thing. What is my diamond may not be to you.
Play before you pay.

its an instrument. which immediately says that it is very personal.
DONT listen to anyone. play what you are attracted to and make up your own mind.

cheers,

Well I might as well throw my two cents in. I love both the EBMM EVH and Peavey Wolfgang. As was mentioned already I prefer the wider neck of the Wolfgang as there is a size difference but in no way is it a drastic difference as some may say just a preference. I like the body and pups of the EVH over the Wolf. But both were great playing guitars but here is the one area where it is not even close. The quilt tops on the EBMM EVH were like a swimming pool I am serious you can get hypnotized staring at one, and are as great a top as I ever have seen. The 1st year quilts on a Wolfgang even on the best one you could find would just be average at best. There is also a reason I would not own a Wolfgang after April of 02 but as not to take this in a direction that BP would probably not like you can go yourself and look on the Peavey forum about pick ups and Korea as it is no secret.

Yes, i'm aware of these issues, especially their Korean models.
The American Wolfgang I've played was great, but the pups just didn't do it for me. Maybe I'm used to ASS pups and spoiled by their great tones.

I just find overall a PV Wolfgang is a 'harder' guitar.
It seems more (dare i say it) 'metal' but the pickups were somewhat harsh with very high output.

I like the feel of the necks though and that is important but then again im a sucker for birdseye and gun oil.

Welcome

Everyone has 'their' guitar. Grab a cup of Earl Grey with chestnut honey inside (regardless that you do not like it) and go to the store and plug in the amp that you have at home with the setting that you prefer at home and just change the guitars - clean channel, dirty channel, lead. No pedals!

Relax and play them - then stand up and play them. Whatever feels most 'natural' to you - that's 'your guitar'. In your case the Best thing is that you've narrowed it down so it's either/or.

Oh and btw, do not forget to post the pictures of the new Axis when you buy it. It's a forum 'rule' - pictures or it doesn't exist.

Good luck!
