I can picture it now: Either a backyard barbecue, or a pre-concert tailgate party with BP in an apron at the new BigPoppa Smoker, cooking some of the best midwest prime aged beef that Chicago has to offer. Of course, we would have to cook up some Usinger's Brats, and serve some Portillo's hot dogs. Oh, and maybe some Gino's East sausage pizza (you know, the sausage pizza where the whole top of the pizza is one large sausage patty)

This scenario is probably BPs fantasy scenario too, if you replace all of us with, ZZTop, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana..........

It's a good fantasy anyway.

I've done some research, and if you become a member of EC Access, Eric Clapton Fan Club, you can purchase tickets for the festival starting at 10:00am CST on 19 Feb, instead of on 20 Feb.

Well, that was a complete waste of time. My network at the office is extremely fast, and my computer is too. I got myself all set up. I had my ECC password posted to my keyboard, I set myself up with Ticketmaster with an account so that my credit card information was already in my profile, and was logged into Ticketmaster waiting for 10:00am. I literally hit the refresh button for the Crossroads ticket page every 2 seconds from 9:55am to 9:59am. At 9:59am, I hit the refresh button, and it came back up with the Box Office information. I entered in my information, code, and left the rest "best availible. It probably took me 15 seconds to enter in everything, including the little word scamble to make sure you are a human. About 10 seconds later, I found that there were no tickets that matched my description. I entered, and re-entered my information as quickly as I could for the next 45 minutes, only to get the same message. I was hoping that maybe the server was locked up, or there was a glitch at ticketmaster, but apparently, the pre-sale tickets sold out that quickly.

I guess it's not a big deal, as general admission tickets go on sale tomorrow, and it is General Admission, although I am a little miffed that I spent $30 on a fan club membership to have the privilege of participating in the pre-sale. Great deal.

Congrats guys. I had to wait until General Public tickets went on sale today, but I did manage to get 2 tickets before the show sold out. Dumb luck is the only way to get tickets, unless you are willing to pay the scalpers.

I'll be taking my 17 year old son with me. He's really excited about the whole thing.

So, now we need to figure out where we will all meet up before the show. Nice to put a face with a name.

well, meeting up before the show might not be as lucrative, considering gates open at 10 AM. We should do a dinner thing...like, chicago style pizza or something. If there's anyone coming in from out of town that would like a free place to stay, I'd be able to hook you up. Just keep me posted!

In '07, we stayed at a hotel over there by Midway. There was quite a gathering of concert goers at the Fridays over there the night before the show, and the night of the show. We took a hotel shuttle bus over to the airport, where there were busses running to Toyota Park. Worked out pretty well.

I've got reservations the night of the concert at the Comfort Inn on 159th in Orland Park. With my the military discount, it came to $89 ($99 with taxes and fees). It's only about 15 miles away, and there's a pretty direct path to it from Toyota Park.

I prefer not to stay by Midway. That part of town is kind of sketchy. Besides, with all the international travelers staying at those airport hotels, you've got to start worrying about stuff like bedbugs and whatnot. The nice hotels by Midway, that you wouldn't worry about that kind of thing are going to be $160 and up. Anyway, I've stayed at the Comfort Inn several times, and it's a nice, reasonably priced hotel in a decent neighborhood(and it's about 3 miles from a Portillos)

Yeah, tailgating before the show might not be as much fun, since we'll be going in at 10. I was thinking more along the lines of picking a spot to meet up to introduce ourselves before the show, and decide if we wanted to hang out with one another during the show, for those of us with GA floor tickets.
Maybe set up a little Knucklehead encampment in the field.

I plan on arriving at the parking lot well before the show, so as to ensure that I have a decent spot. I plan on employing the Clark Griswold method of parking, where you park far from the entrance of the venue, but close to the exit of the parking lot, so if you see one lonely car parked well away from everyone else at 8:00am, it's probably me.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the Ernie Ball stage is going to be, and what will be going on there.

IF it was like last time it's right when you get into the gate they have a nice stand with all the guitars to try along with fender and gibson but ebmm was the nicest by far! the stage you cant miss! it's huge and there will be performers playing before the main show ~I had a great time watching them last time a nice diverse set of acts and according to BP they are stepping the game up? WHO knows what that means?? It'll be great for sure!:D

boy eric clapton site made out like a fat rat. Everybody went over and purchased his fan access for 30 bucks. hate to see how much ol eric made off just that! This must be the rich mans blues show i heard about! when you all get there make sure you take a look around and see how many poor blues people/fans you see there! The marketers for these guys and the music industries are getting out of hand!!! . they could give me the tickets free and I still wouldn't go, and if I did I would sit there wondering...what did everyone else have to pay to get in and where does all the money go. besides, this is one of the reasons we choose music man guitars over fenders, gibson, ect. they are not mass produced like the other companys that have markets making out like a fat rats and feed their selfish souls!
I would rather go sit at one of my chicago blues clubs and have a quiet evening with friends, family and drinks then pay some fat rat to let me into some concert that too many markters made a killing with!
sorry, I hope this don't stir up too much controversy! Now, I'll go back to my practice space and keep my mouth shut and play da blues along with my 10yr old who I hope to teach the same morals!!!

Takin all your balls overseas too?

Probably just taking one initially, my MM90 Supersport. Going to store the HH Sport at my folks place until I get settled, and sell the HSS Sport. It'll be in the for sale thread when I get some good photos of it.

Back on topic, how did the Ernie Ball stage work last time? Did it host performers all day as an alternative to the main stage, or only before the show/between sets etc?

Um Myrz, it's a charity concert. I'm not sure if any of the acts are being compensated for their time. I think it's considered an honor to be included in the lineup. The tickets for the show were $100 each. That's pretty reasonable, considering the legnth of the show, and the volume and calibur of talent. I do however, have a problem with ticket brokers who are making an obscene profit on tickets to a charity event, and a system of selling tickets that seems to shut out ordinary concert goers from all the good seats.

I paid the $30 for the opportunity to purchase my tickets at the fan club pre-sale. I had no luck, but I'm not going to begrudge the fan club for that. It wasn't a $30 pre-sale fee, it was $30 to become a member or the fan club. There was never a guarantee of tickets to pre-sale participants.

um your probably right, hundred dollars is a very reasonable price to pay considering the entertainment. but, I don't see where those tickets are available any longer. those must of been for the fan club folks? However, they are now available through other ticket brokers starting somewhere around twice that amount. Maybe I was jumping to conclusions because the presale tickets sold out in less than a minute or two. Now all that are left to deal with is the brokers who are charging alot more. Is ticketmaster selling the tickets any more? they show the offer, but does not work if you follow through with the ordering process.
how about the venue, when you order that beer and hotdog better reach deep for a twenty! tap beer and oscar myar....yum!
