Hey EB guys and gals... I have a couple of EBMM EVH guitars as well that need similar work done... EB doesn't do re-finish work? What exactly would constitute as re-finish work? :p And what wouldn't? ;)

I know this is all a legal BS issue with EVH which really sucks.

I live in the Phil, so sending in the guitars is a pretty tough thing to do. What's the best way to clean and maintain the body of the EVH? I don't think I can find the specific brands of lemon-oil and wax that are mentioned here... so I need to find suitable replacements.

If I find a good luthier, any specific things about the EVH that a luthier wouldn't know off the top of their heads? Unique traits to the EBMM?

Would it be possible to order the parts (fret wire, volume pot, PU switch, jack, nut, and trem) from EB and have a local luthier here do the work?

I read that EB doesn't recommend sanding the neck in any way... and recommends Murphy's Oil Soap.. meanwhile, I've read on the net that Murphy's isn't recommended for certain types of wood since it leaves residue.

Some people on the forum use steel wool or fine sand paper... but this kinda sounds freaky... and like I read on the FAQ, EB doesn't recommend it... so which is which? :s

You may want to start a new thread with all those questions. That way more people will have a chance of seeing your post. Besides , I'm the only thread hijacker here ;)

Oh sorry.. will do. Some forums I go to prefer to have all related topics under one thread regardless of who started it.

Would all you guys in the US who need some work done on your guitars, please dry your eyes!! I've just spent shedloads of money shipping my stuff to Jon in SLO from the UK, and whats more, it doesn't even cost me a second thought. There is no point in going to any other repair shop, it's a no brainer. Consider yourselves lucky to be connected by land to SLO!!

We still do non warranty work. We don't do refinish work, but we can do what Sin wants.

I know this is an old thread, but it actually came up as a google hit when I was looking for fretboard refinishing options just now. So, is John's quote above still the case? You still do non-warranty work, such as the work described by Sin in this thread? I'm wanting/needing a re-fret & general fretboard re-finish as well. My hands often sweat quite a bit when I play, and the fretboard on my SR4 shows it. I've cleaned it a few times with fine stell wool & lemon oil, which helped alot. But if I can send it in for re-fret, I'd like to basically "over-haul" it. What would you do, sand it down a bit?

Thx alot,
Robert
