Head over to the bass forum for a must see factory tour!

Wonderful pics and great information. Perhaps the best content thread ever.

Only downside is too many basses, not enough guitars.

I guess we could talk about it here.

That's a great little tour. I really like the shot of the white board with the production/setup goals and totals on it... By my calculations, EB/MM produce almost as many guitars in a week as Fender's Corona CA factory pumps out in about six hours... :D

My favorite shot was of Stingraymonds bass on Jon's workbench.

Just reminded of a patient undergoing surgery later in life at the same hospital he was born at. Very symbolic.

A picture of Jon (suit and tie) woulda been cool:D

What a great post that was! Kind of adds something to my appreciation of the quality of the EBMM products. I must say I'm surprized that they would allow photos being taken in the plant though....but then again that says a lot about the company. (I'm assuming they knew the pictures were being taken...??? lol) Thumbs up to EBMM! Makes me want to stop by for a tour myself sometime. I'm actually only a few hours away from the plant. Any EBMM folks think that is possible? A tour I mean.... maybe see more of the Silo and Axis production?? Anyhow, great post kbaim.

Hi...please keep in mind that we do not have "official tours" Elson got a tour because I was working on his bass that he drove 200 miles to have me work on. If you are going to be in the area, it would be a good idea to call and see if a tour could be arranged before you show up. I am stoked at the responce from all of you..very cool.

QUICK STORY ON JON.

Last September I had made arrangements to have Dennis (no longer there) at EB tweak a couple of my guitars. Then I got news that my aunt in chicago had died and I had to leave for the funeral the next day.

LOng story short, I call up EB to speak to dennis to see if he could do it that day instead of later that week only to find out Dennis had left the company.

I talked to Jongitarz, who was on his first day of the new job taking over for dennis, and he said no problem come on down.

Not only did I really appreciate him making the time and taking care of me, but the long drive (540 round trip) was really therapeautic for me.

Just another reason why I feel so strongly about EBMM.

OK, mark another one off my wish list. This was a great tour!

It would be great to have a tour like this on the Music Man site (except of course, it would need a LOT more guitars in the pics :D ). I'm thinking it would be a great marketing too.

Just reading this thread comfirms what all of us that play MM guitars already knew. It isn't just the guitar itself that makes it so special to us, but rather it is the people who build these fine instruments. They put that little spark of "life" into each one. When you have folks that care about what they are producing, that feeling reflects in the product that they are building. I know as a owner of three MM guitars that each one of mine have that little extra life to them. Hats off to all those at EBMM who have made playing guitar that much more joyful!!

TRAVELING TIP

If you're lucky enough to get over to EBMM in central california for a tour, stay in Cambria on Moonstone Beach if you're spending the night.

And try and get to Montana De Oro State Park if you have time.

Both of these are on cliffs overlooking ocean with trails, crashing waves, sea otters, etc.

And if you have time, drive the big sur coastline that is jaw dropping and breathtaking. If you don't have time, then make the time!
