shredder-

it sounds to me like 3 riffs: the first 8 measures (first 20 seconds) is mainly the notes e, d and g, with ascending half step phrases (a,b-flat,b and g,a-flat,a alternately), the second riff has a measure of G chord followed by a measure of A chord, and then later the third riff is A-C-D-G/A, then up a 4th to D-F-G-C/D

correct me if I'm wrong, my ears aren't all that~

tempo count...I don't know, quarter note maybe about 90-100 bpm; the high hat is playing 8th notes. 4/4 time.

try playing E pentatonic over the first two progressions, and maybe A and D pentatonics over the third riff for starters.

Your ears are very good!!! You got it all right...
The tempo is 100 bpm.
I used my JP through POD xt Live straight into my soundcard to record both lead and rhythm guitars.

Hey...I'll start working on an AC/DC straight ahead rock thing...try to have it up here soon.

In the meantime, go ahead and upload your solo for this one...you'll be the 4th solo.

Yep Jeff -
I used my L6 Pod XTL again ! The guitar was my new AL with the MM 90 in bridge position.

Thanks,
Boy

Cool one! It's interesting to hear how every guitarist adds a different vibe to the song and has a different interpretation of the backing track.

Ivan, thanks for your kindest words. Do you still need my solo track again as .wav-file ?
You wrote that you used also the pod xtl again. What amp model did you using?
May you can send me the patch ?

Send me a wav if you can, your take is a little bit too low in the mix for my taste, so I'll bring it up a notch.
Concerning the amp models - For the distorted rhythm guitar I used Cali Diamond Plate (Mesa Triple Rectifier) with the middle pickup position on my JP. For that funky clean rhythm guitar I think I used Brit J-900 Clean (Marshall JCM 900) with the middle pickup position again, but I'm not 100% sure on the amp model. For the lead sound I used L6 Modern Hi Gain (Soldano X88R). I don't have the exact patches because I didn't save them. I dialed in these sounds to record the tracks and didn't save the patches afterwards.

I'll send you the wav file tomorrow.
For my taste is your solo a notch too loud, ;) but I would like to ask Jeff before.

How is your opinion, Jeff ?

@peedo deedo: Thanks much for your kindest words !

This would be cool if it had its own forum section, with threads for every genre, that way everybody has a place to jam.

Skwisgaar Skwigelf would say, "Nots sayings its nots cools already, buts thats woulds be awesomes. Ands, whens thes metal jams comes arounds, I'ms so downs." and I agree.

Honestly, I like the solos for this purpose a little loud so that each person's different styles can be heard. If we were mixing for a CD, I might bring them down a little....but so far, I think it sounds pretty good.
The worst thing in the world is having a bunch of guitar players in the room when mixing a song (ha ha)
I'm just glad that it's turned out good so far for being our first effort. Boy, I did want to hear your solo a little better...i saw your video on your website and you're an awesome player! Also, I was thinking of doing some other songs that were a little more structured....maybe have some more dynamic parts that break down and let the guitar breathe....but like I said, so far, it's GREAT!!!!
thanks for participating...I wonder if BP has been here yet?

I've been playing along with the track, and I can make a .wav of my solo, but I can't put it on top of the existing track. Is this what ivan has been doing with some other people? If so, I could email the .wav file, but it would be just of my guitar.
