Greetings UK forumites,

I'll be back in the UK next week for a short stay :D. It's been a while and I'm excited! While I'm back I'd like to check out some stores with some juicy Balls to get my grubby mits on

Does anyone know of some good stores up North?

Cheers!

Hi mate - Depends on how far north you mean...nr Manchester there's a real good store that stocks very hi-end stuff including EBMM....it's called Sounds Great and I think it's in a place called Heald in Cheshire. It's near Wythenshawe.

Other than that, EBMM guitars are pretty hard to find...there's a place in Oxford (Guitar Gallery I think it's called.....) but aside from that - it's fairly slim pickings - which keeps us fairly exclusive I guess! ;o)

The guys at Strings and Things could probably help???

Again, it depends on where in the North of England but can't recommend Shaun at Envy Guitars highly enough. His shop is in Hartlepool and he's got a few tasty EB in stock including a BFR AL and a Koa JP plus some Silo's.

For a small store, he got a great collection of EB's and is a top bloke to deal with.

Whatever you do avoid London cause there's **** all EB guitars here, despite it being the capital of UK, it's a shameful state of affairs. :(

Sounds Great are pretty good, my Bongo came from there. They're in Heald Green, fairly near to Manchester Airport. PM me if you need more specific directions. Last time I was in there, they had a Y2D, a Luke BFR and I think a standard Luke. They tend not to keep a huge amount of EBMM's in stock, but they are very helpful.

There's also Guitars 4 You in Ashbourne and Frets music near Blackpool (Cleveley's I think) have some stock.

Hey Capt take a trip to Denmark Street, Rockers have several on the wall.
BTW Thanks for your support ???!!!

Since when Blind Lemon? I went there 3 weeks ago and all I saw was a couple of Stingrays and a Bongo 4HS and no guitars!

I am happy if they got some more recently but I went there with my guitar player and wanted him to try one but no joy. Actually I told him to contact you his name is Tony L. Did he call you?

Holy smokes! Thanks for all the replies!

Thanks for the info! I should have been more specific. I'm from Bradford and want to get to places doable in a British Rail day trip. Liverpool is good, Manchester too, so "Sounds Great" and "Dolphin Music" look like good choices.
I'll be bringing the (6 months pregnant - good use of my other balls:p? (can I get away with that here:eek:?)) wife and the 3 year old with me so it needs to be easy enough to get to.

Cheers for the responses!

Capt, I think you might need a pair of specs. There is a luminated Musicman sign with a Luke, 2 JP's, Y2D, Albert Lee, and a lovely natural Axis to name a few, and they were there 3 weeks ago...................................
That's Rockers 5 Denmark Street

Love the changes you're adding to the S&T website btw Pete, and as for dealers I'm pretty sure there's a list of all in the UK?

I wish there were more EBMM guitars in the shops in this neck of the woods. I am trying to convert a work colleague to the world of EBMM and had to lend him one of mine for a weekend as he cannot find a single ASS hardtail in any shop in the South of England! I know he is now in contact with Strings and Things who are super helpful. But still, its hard to spread the word when not a single store carries the best guitar money can buy!

Don't they have any in Oxford guitars Tim ?

I didn't even know that shop existed! There is no stock list on their website sadly.

The two main guitar shops in this area are Andertons in Guildford, and Guitar Village in Farnham. Both carry all manner of Gibsons, Fender PRS etc. Andertons is the more general music shop of the two, and carries drums PA etc. Guitar Village on the other hand is a real 'quality' guitar shop and carries a lot of the top end and Custom Shop Fenders and Gibsons. Neither of which have a single EBMM guitar in stock. Andertons normally have the EBMM Bass guitars though.

I fully understand that EBMM guitars are a niche item, and won't shift as many units as say a PRS SE or a US Strat. But when you rave about these marvellous amazing guitars to people, and there is not a single one to be found anywhere to try or buy its disappointing!

I think we are very disadvantaged in the UK as we don't have places like Guitar Center, and the massive inventory they carry. As much as people complain about GC and the like, I would love to have one of these places on my doorstep! The first time I went into GC in the States I thought that I had died and gone to heaven!

I don't want be negative to Strings and Things in any way, as I have always found them to be more than excellent in every way. However, maybe something like a live stocklist of who has what in stock would be really handy. Or even an appointed 'Showcase' store that has at least one of everything?

Spooky as I was going to suggest that one of those two shops should stock MM's with a maybe being Kingfisher music/Fleet or Nevada music/Portsmouth.:)
