I would like a guitar that wipes itself then packs itself away after a gig.

It would be useful if the amps and the rest of the clutter could do the same, then they all load themselves into my car and drive me home while I snooze in the back seat!

Actually I think this is called a Roadie.....:D

How about a security system on a guitar like the ones you have on a guitar?

Ya know flame and quilted tops> how about if they actually moved.

How about a guitar that detects the redheads in the audience and subliminally tells them that my playing doesn't suck.
YES, +1,and the subliminal message will also tell them to come back stage after the show.

What I'd like to see? Stainless Steel jumbo frets on all guitars!

I'd also like to see a proper green colour on the colour chart (I'm sure Bluetooth is more likely - I see Slim Poppa shaking his head right now...).

Other than that, I'd really like to be able to choose neck shapes, body woods and fretboard woods on all my fave guitars. How does an alder Petrucci with an Axis neck shape and maple fretboard sound to you guys? To me it sounds just about perfect!

Cheers

+1. Then take out the 5 way and put a toggle with a hardtail.

I would love...
Axis:
- hard tail
- toggle
- piezo
- would be nice to have a volume know for each pickup (but like the one volume knob for all anyway)

I love the holographic idea, Rob! Very Total Recall -- remember the lady painting her fingernails?

On the security side, what about a GPS chip in the guitar that could be tracked by an online database if your guitar ever goes missing?

It won't happen to non ultra expensive guitars, but I think we will see this in some custom shop gibsons, surh and other companys soon.

I was pondering the same thing but I was wondering some things. If most guitar thieves are simply opportunistic and wouldn't know or care about a chip, would it really reduce the number of thefts? Would the idea only be worth it if all the people who might come into contact with the guitar have a chip reader too? Guitar stores and police for one, but what about all the other second-hand dealers or pawn shops? Should it be an industry-wide system to be useful? What about updating a database when a guitar legitimately changes hands? How much would it all cost for the idea to really work out?

A GPS chip...as in a GPS locator device? I like it!!! Much better than an ordinary microchip (like those used to identify ownership...eg missing pets etc). You could track that stolen EBMM right across the world in real time!

GPS tracking devices are great! Here's a news excerpt about one locally:

MANCHESTER — - Taking a cue from fishermen, Manchester detectives used a bottle of narcotics as bait to hook a man suspected in a series of robberies and break-ins at three pharmacies.

On Friday, they reeled in their drug-hungry suspect after he grabbed a GPS-marked bottle of Vicodin that led investigators right to him.
...
The GPS device didn't fare well, however. Police found it broken in half and discarded in a trash can.

Here are some ideas that I have dreamt of, from the mildest to wildest, to the small to the tremendous, I am thankful for this area with which to express ourselves.

1. A smooth joystick instead of a toggle. A keyboard has a modulation stick or joystick with which to mesh and mingle their sounds with, adding life with subtle nuances to their music. Now, while a three position switch is still very versitile, what if you could determine exactly how much of each pickup you are using and blending in a smooth and simple control.
Take for instance on a piezo equipped bridge. Instead of using a pot to blend it, what if you could direct the flow and blend with something as smooth as a keyboard joystick on the guitar? To me, it would allow even more individuality to each instrument and allow each pickup to be used to its fullest, satisfying the artists particular nuances.
2. On the market there are lots of "build it yourself" kind of kits that you can try to make the instrument of your dreams and budget. It would be cool to have something like this, an affordable and custom Music Man to build your own. A double benefit to this might be a better appreciation for the hard work of the employees at Ernie Ball.
An extention to this idea would be having a secondary cavity that is empty so that when you buy a guitar, if you want to add, lets say a sustainer, you'll have the space with which to do so without further drilling.
3. My father is a PEZ collector, could you imagine a Silo "PEZ" neck? Not look wise, but function. If you need to adjust something or clean etc, you would be able to do that with a collapsable guitar. Perfect for flight use and on the go travels.
4. Ok, so you know seat belts, how they retract until you need to pull on it to use? How about that for a guitar? You'll never lose a strap again, and you'll be able to safely play with your guitar without worrying about the strap coming off in the middle of a song.
5. Glow in the dark inlays, or messages. Take for instance a JP with the inlays, what if with the light on, you couldn't see the inlays, but when you turn off the lights, BAM! a beautiful display of crafstmanship and a colorful "JP" in the dark onstage.
6. The Mystic Dream finish is beautiful and original, however it is being copied and marketed a lot by other companies. Thats fine, so that just means the standard has been raised again! How about mystic dream inlays?
7. A convertible solidbody guitar. Say you want a solidbody, then for the next set, you need a semi hollowbody, being able to control how much breath you want, almost like how you can control a piezo.
8. A convertable scale length guitar. I like 24 3/4 scale length necks, but if i need to tune down, it would be cool to be able to pull the neck so that I can extend it to a 25.5 scale length neck.

Thank you for reading the first (and not last) installment of ideas!

This has to be a drummer who posted this...funny stuff though, the "PEZ" style neck man, that mad me drop my beer laughing. Keep up the good work...:D

However....I would really like EBMM to make a silhouette normal production model WITHOUT a pickguard, and JUST 3 single coils. 24 fret, single coils no pickguard Silo, that would be perfect. And...maybe a new bass that did not have to have a pickguard on it, with a body style similiar to the JP sig. With a slightly smaller headstock. And a cigarette holder on ALL EBMM guitars and basses like a REAL pro should have!

I want a guitar with an Easy Bake Oven built into the back. So I can cook up some chicken fingers during the show.
