Hi guys and gals!

I bought a EBMM John petruci signature JP6, a couple of month ago (used). I just love the guitar, but there´s just something that´es making me crazy, I don´t really know how to say it, english is not my mother tongue (swedish is). I wonder if some can tell me how high or low the string saddles (of each string) are, right now they are almost att the same high, I know that is not good, I read somewhre that the should follow the neck´s ratio (curve) I wonder if some of you guys that have their JP6 beautifully adjust can measure them and enlight me. I would apreciated if the measures are in millimeters, inches works aswell.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums!
Hur mar du?

Ive got my JP6 but ive adjusted it myself its basically depends what setup you like, what tension you prefer etc. all of that really matters for example i like and must play on thicker strings and at the same time like low action.
We are all different and like different setups.

i usually work string by string. i play the E B and G without distortion to see if it sustains enough and doesn't buzz through the amp. on the thick ones i just check if the tone is good enough.

but if you take it to a pro it will be quicker and easier :p

Hej!

Jag mår bra, tack!

Yes, I could send it to a pro, but the thing is that i would like to learn how to do it myself, I can´t be that hard, iguess ;)

I´m using .009 strings, I like low action, the neck is quite straight, just a lite bit of relief, the bridge on the high E string side is parallel with the body, on the low E is a litte bit higher, like 1 millimeter.

Now the problem it self is that all the string saddles are att the same high, they are not following the curve ratio of the neck, that´s why I wonder if some of you could guide me with som numbers so I can start with and from there adjust it to mi liking.

Peace!

Get your relief right first. Then set the bridge/tremolo height.

Then adjust the saddles.

Use a precision ruler showing 64ths of an inch (or metric equivalent). On each string, measure from top of the 12th fret to underside of the string. I set the high E at 3/64 and the low E at 4/64 (you may prefer something different) and "smooth" or "blend" the heights from the high E to low E. For example the B string will be a tiny bit higher than 3/64, the G string a tiny bit higher than the B, ... until you get to the A which will be a tiny bit lower than 4/64. This will ensure the saddle heights follow the radius of the fingerboard and also will allow for a bit more height on the heavier strings.

I use this:

Finally, adjust the intonation.

AGT!

Just one last question, is 3/64 of an inch = 0.046875 inch (decimal form) is it right? I need decimals to convert to metric ;)

Thanx again!
