Help! Ebmm jp6

Hello,

I'm planning to get JP6 next year. But, there are a couple things I need to ask.

I'm a strat player. I love a C shaped neck and really hate the thin neck ibanez.

What's the neck feel on the JP6? strat neck is kinda have a satin finish and JP6 has 'gunstock oil'. Is that going to give like an smooth feel to it?

The floating tremolo bridge on JP6, is that going to be the same as a 'floating floyd bridge'?

The JP neck is thinner than a "C" carve. Maybe you'll learn to like it. Took me about 2 weeks to get really comfortable with it but I'm glad I put in the time. I played Wizard necks before though.

The gunstock oil and wax on the unfinished neck is amazing! Smooth as butter. I prefer this by far over finished necks now. Hard to go back!

The trem is the best! No locking nut, the guitar has locking tuners instead. It holds tune as well or better than any Floyd Rose (better in my experience) and you don't have to deal with fine tuners on the bridge, locking nut, etc.
 
Or the Silhouette neck, which is more C shaped..
or better yet, an Albert Lee.. nice C neck carve, unbelievable single coil sounds.. ultra clean, twangy, soulful.. strat killer.
 
The JP necks are most comparable to Ibanez necks.

Why don't you just stop by a Guitar Center and try one out for yourself?

I'm not a shredder like JP, but as long as its comfy I dont mind! :D

Agree!! floyd rose bridge sucks imo. It took me forever to change strings hahahaha

"D" shape would be much more appropriate for the JP6 neck. As a previous JP and Ibby owner I can tell you it is the flattest neck I have wrapped around.

This includes all the Ibby Jem necks as well.

Now, that is not to say it is bad, because it's just different. With a little adjustment you'll realize how amazingly comfortble the guiar as a whole is. There is no guitar in the EBMM line that I can think of that is more comfortable and ergonomic than the JP6.

However, I assure you none of our words can really describe what the neck feels like. you really need to wrap your hands around it.

As Joe Bonamssa or Travis Larson can attest, the JP can do so much more than just Metal and Shred. Evenmore so with the piezo.

are u guys comparing the rg prestige guitar? I used to have rga220, and the neck is pretty flat. Is that the same as jp6?
 
The best way is to try one if you can
i don't love this neck because i i've two Luke and for me it's the better neck

but it's better IBZ regards finishes and profile

i've tested the two necks

and the JP is a very good and versatile guitar very good tone

The MM necks are:

Petrucci D shape - shred profile

Silhouette C - All around comfy shape

Al C shape

Luke is a small soft V - You gotta try this one, like a Clapton guitar but with a flatter radius and a killer sound

Axis - Asymetrical - Another real unique gem here. Super comfortable.

Sub - C shape

I find it very easy going from any C shape to the Lukes V but the thin flat necks are not for me yet.

Its hard to find a music shop here in perth, australia that carry music man guitar. Most of them carry music man bass.

I think D shape should be fairly comfortable.
As long as its not as thin as 'wizard prestige' neck or is it? (someone please confirm this please?)

I would say very similar thin-ness to the RG for sure, but nicer to feel.

it's got more meat around the "shoulders", where you rest your thumb for bends. it feels fuller than a wizard neck.

I actually think the jp neck feels thinner than the wizard neck, it also feels smaller.
although I quite like the feel of it, I don't think you would, especially if you're used to strat necks
 
i guess we all agree that we disagree, and i further risk venturing that the best idea is to try one out yourself, even if it's a hell of a ride. there's nothing as bitter as getting the wrong guitar.

i have had an american deluxe strat. the jp6 is thinner, but not much. the jp6 still has a reasonably conservative shaped neck, even if it's really fast playing.
