Hey guys. My Luke came with two springs (used) but I ended up changing the 9s to 10s and putting a third spring in. Decided I wanted to try 9s as I figured the guitar was designed with that in mind, considering Luke uses them, etc.

Stock, are they two or three springs? Does Luke use two? The trem is VERY sensitive with two springs...!

My Luke III, bought new, came set up with nines with two springs in the back. It gained a spring and a set of 10s before the end of that day. Personally, if two springs are to sensitive, try three and loosen the claw. I really don’t know if there will be any difference since your balancing spring tension with string tension. Go back to 10s if you want more resistance.

Set up from the factory, it will have two springs, which are in holes 1 and 5 of the tremolo block, and go to hooks 2 and 4 on the claw, so they are angled. It is also set up with the tremolo floating so that that G string can pull up to A #, a minor 3rd.

Steve Lukather uses the tremolo A LOT, and yes it is set up to be very sensitive. I think with more springs, the tremolo becomes less sensitive, which some people like.
