Ok more of my novice still learning questions- anyone use a GT-8, I am in the process of totally reworking my music set up and purchased a GT-8, since I bought it I have mostly been playing the AL but tonight I pulled out the 20th and plugged her in and was using the peizo out to the GT-8 and having fun I then for grins switched the toggle to the MAG PUPS and it switched with no problem, I could go back and forth and sounded great, I guess my question is will this hurt the peizo and/or is this just a function of using the GT-8 with headphones:)

I have a GT8 as well, I love it.

I use the piezo of my JP on a "blank" patch , I set it up as flat as it can be with some reverb throwed in, to imitate a PA. That way the piezo sounds more natural, and yes usually when I use the piezo I plug it into a PA or through the GT8 with headphones.

Switching between the mags and the piezo is just a function of the guitar, its the way the circuit is wired. These are buffered signals depending on which input you plug in the cable also it depends if you are using a mono cable or a stereo one.

Hey Mike I bought the GT-8 because my brother recommended it he has a GT-6 , I started to buy a used GT-6 but found a new GT-8 at a great price. I have had it less than a week so still sorting it out, I know my question made no sense, had a hard time expressing it and after reading your post, I just went back and looked at the wiring schematic for my 20th and thought that was a stupid question so kinda figures it out. But it is a cool device much better than what I had before.
So how is the DD:D

Hey Fing. I'm glad you like the GT-8 - it really is cool. It's one of the most programmable effects pedals out there, but it can be intimidating. If you want a good tutorial, head over to Welcome to Boss GT Central and order Teejay's tutorial DVD. T is a great guy. He decided to take it upon himself to pick up where Boss left off and actually create something to teach us how to use the darn thing.

One of the coolest features is the dual COSM preamp engines. The GT-6 only has one. If you want to have some fun, set it up for Dual L/R, set channel A for a mesa and B for a marshall (or any other models you choose), then delay the B channel by 30ms. Now put on your headphones.....Talk about HUGE!

The DD? I can't get enough. What can I say? It's a fabulous instrument....:)

+1 on that DVD tutorial, the GT-8 is a wonder but yeah you definitely gotta read and learn some things to avoid frustration.

What I like the most is that you can organize the FX chain anyway you want it, including the external loop. Besides of all the cool simulators if they are tweaked properly this thing gives you a HUGE sound!
