Hi, all. I just picked up a used EBMM JPM. The previous owner had it setup w/9's and I'd like ot change it back to a 10-46 guage. I'd like to know what the factory setup specs are as far as string height at the 12th and 24th frets. Looks like th action was lowered with the 9's and I prefer the feel of higher action. Thanks for the assistance!

Factory specs...2/32 at the 12th fret bridge flat and level with the body, almost no relief.

Jon,

Can you confirm how high the bridge base plate should rest off the body? I notice I can't pull the strings sharp very much and I tihnk they may have lowered the bridge via the studs, also. Thanks.

We try and set them level with the body..if you have problems going sharp with the trem, raise the bridge slightly and adjust the saddle accordingly. There really is no standard measurement of the bridge.

I guess I should also ask if the problem you are having is lack of travel, or are the strings hitting the end of the neck when you pull up

It's lust lack of travel in the trem. I used to own one about a year ago and sold it (big mistake). I remember having quite a bit of upward pull on the bar with the first one I had. No issues with the strings bottoming out on the frets.

HMMM...Next time you change the strings, take the bridge off, and look for a build up of the finish, or anything that might prevent the bridge from moving. They are all routed out on a CNC machine, so they are all within a few thou of an inch +/- maybe .005, but some of the finishes are thicker..Mystic Dream will be alot thicker than black for instance.

Jon, Thanks for the help. I pulled the trem cavity cover and just re-strung it. There are currently 4 trem springs, but when I pull the bar sharp, it looks like the springs are too loose, therefore it doesn't hold tune. Does the JPM use 3 springs in stock setup or 4?

The JP uses 3 springs...I bet thats the problem....too many springs and they don't compress...Take 1 spring out..Put one in the middle and one on each outer side.

Jon

Jon, thanks for all the assistance. The extra spring was causing the problem. I just re-set the intonation and it seems to be fine now with the normal amount of travel in the trem. I'll let it sit overnight and adjust the truss rod tomorrow if it needs it.

Alright, I'm having problems too. The way it came when I ordered it, the tail end of the bridge was rockered pretty far up, and the front end wasn't very low either, so I set about leveling out the bridge. Well, I got it all level, but the frets buzz now. Everything on the wound and g strings below fret 12 buzzes, and the action still isn't all THAT low. I'm guessing it's a truss rod issue, but am not sure how to know what to do from here.
