I have noticed that most threads recently seem to be based on the Bongo, Big Al, or Reflex. Then we get threads on Rays virtually the time. This is by no means a bad thing!

But, lets not forget the stunning Sterling!

I have a 5 HS on order. and Im currently wrestling over whether to also get a 4 H for my rock bands or get another 5er in the form of a Bongo 5 HH. Tough decision!

The folks who play Sterlings are kind of like what you would want in your best friend. Confident, unassuming, willing to let others (Bongo/Al/Reflex) take the spotlight, while they are just humbly going about their business of tonal excellence, doing their job without much flash or bling.

Kind of like Wes Welker vs. Chad Ochocinco.

That is, unless your Sterling is one of these:

Well, ...reflex, Big Al and Bongo are the latest products of the EBMM company, so it's pretty normal to me that is most of the interest here for some fresh stuff! ;)

Anyway, I don't think that means lower interest for other EBMM basses, including the cult, wonderful, awesome ...EBMM Sterling basses in the world market! :)

I'm still in love with my EBMM Sterling HS and play it almost every weekend at the gigs and weekly at home and with band practice!

Whoa!
Hold Up!

DO YOU MEAN TO TELL ME there are posters on this Forum WHO DO NOT OWN A STERLING????

My apologies; I thought it was not only wise, but MANDATORY to own a Sterling Bass (preferably single H fretted-4; better in Natural Ash , tort p/g and of course Maple Board-like mine would ya believe?)
..Before even being allowed to post here!

I'm aghast, boggled, confused!

Of course Bongo GOOD! Of course, Reflex Big Al, 25th , yada yada
GOOD! And the 'Ray..well of course!

But to indulge in EBMM Bass output and NOT own/play a STERLING??!!

(Preferably... ahh never mind you get it)

How can this BE?

What's the matter with you people?
Paging Mr. STERLING Ball; please do something about these slackers.

BANNED! Until you get back to basics.

My Sterling is neither quiet, nor unassuming. It gets noticed every time I play it and people are ALWAYS telling me how good it looks and how good it sounds. I love the bass because of the feel of the body. It reminds me of a Corvette or a Camaro. Sleek. Compact. Sexy.

I don't love my Bongo or my Stingray any less. It's just that the Sterling brings a different vibe to the table -- especially the HS configuration. If I had to pick one bass to recommend to a lifetime "Non-EBMM" player", this would probably be the one. It's got the EBMM sonic character but it's also got enough "other" tones to allow an EBMM Newbie to find some familiar territory.

Its not as "iconic" as the Stingray, nor is it as unique as the Bongo/Big Al/Reflex. As a matter of fact, it may be the most "conventional" looking of all the EBMM basses.

That said, it's still a killer instrument.

The Sterling neck (4) which I tested is MUCH easier than a 7ender Tazz neck...which is another plus point for the unber cool Sterling.

I stupidly sold these two a couple of years back.

loved the more mids focused sound compared to the Rays I owned and the
Sterlings are my most favourite neck profile on a 4 string

as soon as funds allow I'll be wanting another unless I give into a BA4

I am no bass player, but I do love the Sterling. I had a Stingray a few years back, but sold it in favor of the Sterling. The neck is much more comfortable for me, but still gives the classic Music Man tone.

Our bass player couldn't make rehearsal yesterday, so I brought my Sterling and me and the other guitarist took turns playing it. OK, so we sounded like guitarists trying to play bass........but I thought the tone was better than what we get with the bass players instrument.

I am normally a Stingray or Bongo guy myself, but i do find myself recently giving a lot of attention to my "Wife's" Dargie Sterling. Something about the smaller body and neck that makes it a great instrument to play. Have to fill the void somehow until my Roasted Bongo shows up. JOSH
