I've rudely jumped into forums here. Anyway, I've got a 4 string Stingray coming my way. I want a Sterling, but I couldn't pass this up. I should have it by Mon. or Tues.

I've mailed Bovinhost a few times about a Sterling, and I keep losing my job. (auto industry). He has been the coolest cat on the planet! I've been lurking here for the past few years, and I decided I wanted the black and gold Sterling, then I got laid off again. Anyhoo, I traded one of my beloved for a Stingray. I know the neck will be too wide and all that, cause I like a Sterling type neck, but can anyone tell me what gauge of string to start with? I mostly will play classic rock with this bass. I've got a couple sets (flats and rounds) to haggle with, if anyone wants to swap. I guess I'd like to know if 45-105 sounds good on a Ray with pick and fingers. I know everyone's style is diffy, I just wanna know a good start on a Ray. I'll post pics when I get the bass.

I will cherish this bass....Cause I've always wanted one. It's just my way of getting into the EBMM family.

P.S. 2003 Ray, Blue/rosewood/matching headstock

I can't wait!!!!!

Congratulations on your purchase!

String it with Ernie Ball Slinkys 45-65-80-100, that's what they're delivered with and for good reason too!

I think you'll get used to the wider neck in no time, and then a Sterling will just feel "different".
