EBMM Superior Quality

I do think it is amazing that jongitarz posts on this forum - all credit to the guy. However, as I've posted on this forum before, EBMM Customer services were just short of hostile with me and I am not happy with the treatment I received at all. As I wrote previously, I was so angry that I contemplated getting rid of my EVH which I bought new in Nov 94! Possibly just an isolated incident? :confused:
 
Hey Jimmy - I only had to deal with EBMM customer service once and they were very gracious. I had locked the keys to my guitar case in the case (actually I lost the key and the spare was in the case).

Whoever I dealt with sent me a replacement set of keys - no problem, no charge - he didn't even have a good laugh at me which I deserved
 
jongitarz - yes, my original guitar was glacier blue sparkle with piezo, but I have requested a change of colour to rolls burgundy as I believe part of the problem is the sparkle finish (this has been argued for and against but it is what I believe). I'm hoping to get the replacement guitar in the next month or so but am concerned as it has happened to me twice and has left me without the guitar for a second extended period. I really don't want to complain any more about it - I have said already that if it happens again, it will be on e-bay the next day as I am not prepared to go through all this hassle again. Your UK representatives Strings and Things have been fantastic to deal with during this process.
 
I don't understand how you can be upset with customer service. They have bent over backwards in this matter, even voiding a strict company policy against changing colors of replacements. I am the one who is doing the building and setting up of your new guitar. The body is all built up, and I am waiting for the neck. It should be soon!
 
Don't misunderstand- i appreciate that my request to change colour was beyond the warranty and on face value, customer services have tried to help me. However, throughout my dealings with them, there was an insinuation that I was trying to in some way benefit from this problem which was not the case. I requested a change in colour for two reasons - my orininal body and replacement body had developed neck pocket cracks in that finish and I was distrustful of glacier blue sparkle again. Secondly, if anything goes wrong with a guitar, especially one which has never been regularly played or played in, you tend to start to dislike even the look of it (I know this sounds silly but is true) and I didi not want the guitar back if it even reminded me of the problems I had with that one.

I can't help but think we over think all of the small stuff.

PRS v's EBMM -for me it's simple, no contest,because I don't like set neck furniture guitars.
But I think you would have to be pretty dumb to say one is better than the other because they are so very different,scale lengh,finish,set neck vs bolt neck,apples and oranges.
Which is better a strat or a Lester?Same thing.just different.
SRV or Duane Allman?

As far as MM being the best in theire price range,They seem underpriced and perhaps if they added an extra 1000 to all the models they would get more respect,like Anderson with their basswood and cnc'd bodies,two things that mm get put down for.

Thanks! I have a very nice Custom 24 as well, which was my frst PRS,
but it was my "preferred shred axe" and was recently surpassed by my JP. :)

For the record, none of my sparkle finish guitars have stress cracks...only my pearl redburst JP & purple Luke have them. Go figure.
 
One of my "other" (Ib@nez) guitars has a stress crack.....I personally could care less. It does nothing to the sound and it is so small that it is not noticeable. But, that is me. Other peeps like their guitars/basses pristine and what not. That's cool too. I am careful with my guitars don't get me wrong, but, I would not lose sleep over a ding or stress crack in mine........adds character. Lets you know it has been somewhere and did something I say...hehehehehe......but, I hope dude gets his back so he can do what he really wants to do and that is PLAY IT! :cool:
 
I see it fairly often on these forums where people post proudly that they've never played, touched or owned a signature series guitar. Like these guitars are only for freaky fans who buy the signature guitars as an alternative to stalking the artist outside of their home.

The implication I get from these posts is that the posters are too serious about being a real guitar player to stoop to the level of buying a signature guitar; which after all, are just novelties and toys anyway... Whether this is the point of these posts or not, that's the message I get from them.

I really don't care what these people like or don't like. I find it a little silly to think that because I own an EVH I'm doomed to play only hammer-ons and "spandex butt rock" as I've heard it referred to. For the rest of us, clearly this isn't the case. A good guitar is a good guitar regardless of what name is on it. If this is all these people can play when they play these guitars, they are the problem, not the guitar.

Another way to look at it... Leo Fender couldn't really play guitar. He relied on the input of professional players to develop his guitars. I would never knock his genius or the products he pioneered. Their history speaks for itself. But I do find it funny that folks would slam a guitar developed by someone who is a guitar genius in favor of a guitar that is developed by someone who can't even play. Both of whome are doing it as a business proposition.

People need to play whatever gets them where they want to go. I just find it funny how some guitar players get major cobbs up their rearends about the most petty things.

Play what you like and I'll play what I like.

I also find EBMM quality to be top notch. Saying "For the money." is an easy thing to do but ultimately qualifies gear as less quality compared to something else. But it's cheap so hey! what the heck?

IMO, when you're talking about a $1,000 guitar compared to a $3,000 guitar, the skill of the player tends to define the quality of the tone more than any other single factor. And nowhere is it written that a pretty quilt top sounds better than a plain top.

I'm not ticked off even though this post sounds like I am.

I never said "good for the money". Big difference.

Also, I agree with you 100% that "nowhere is it written that a pretty quilt top sounds better than a plain top". Pretty tops are pretty, but ultimately, you want a guitar that sounds and plays good. I found all that in my PRS SingleCut Trem.

My JP is nowehere as "purdy" but it still kicks serious a$$ as a player.

So agreements all around! :)

ya ... my whole deal with sig guitars is strange and i admit that. i actually dont come at it from a "super fan" angle at all. i figure if you wanna go that route you'll toss out A LOT of money for a guitar the dude actually used - and i dont think that's wierd either.

i really dont know how to describe my "dislike" for signature gear. anywho ... so now im on the hunt for an ASS or a Silo ... anyone here have an extra they might be interested in selling?

For what it's worth, I wasn't specifically picking on you even if your posts may have spiked my thought process. I've seen posts, many of which were much less diplomatic, on other threads/boards and those were more to my point.

I do marvel at how fickle, funny, picky, strange, supersticious and quirky guitar players are though. We are a funny bunch.

JimmyP, I was blown away whne I read this. Your having EBMM replace your discontinued Glacier Blue Sparkle with Piezo because there are stress cracks and then your not even having then paint it the same color?? I'd kill for that guitar!!!
