Thanks!

That sunburst SM is pretty wicked, me thinks. While pink isn't my color, that AL looks bitchin'.

Was I correct in stating that MM are only available through dealer's special orders, and a 3 month waiting period?

Or more.

But it is definitely worth it. Anything worth anything is worth waiting for.

I added my 2 cents to the gear page thread. Hope some of the other "knuckleheads" do the same.

I joinned the forumand posted my 2 pence worth too!

Ohh btw- nice little link to AL playing on a "Chas and Dave Christmas Extravaganza."
Of course, the pianist was the bass player with Heads hands and feet.

When you hear him playing that tune on his AL it makes you realise how much better the AL is than the ASAT

I must try and track down that recording of that show - I wonder if it exists somwhere? - I guess it must if there is a clip of it on You tube.
- This will be my downfall - I've been trying to track down recordings of Little Feat playing at Swansea UK in 1976, and a recording of the Who playing Tommy at Ronnie Scotts in London but to no avail. This will be the "3rd grail" ha!

Okay, I know which one I prefer since I have an AL and not an ASAT, but you've got to admit that the ASAT semi-hollow bluesboy goes places the Albert Lee just doesn't, especially if you toss on a bridge with 3 saddles on the ASAT (like a real tele should be anyway).

Don't get me wrong though, at the end of the day the AL is just light years ahead on the playability, but still - there is just nothing like a semi-hollow boxy tele body with a neck bucker...at least for me. :)

That's the only downer about EBMM for me, really. After experiencing them, I want all my guitars to be as nice! But there's just no EBMM that's like a Jaguar, or a Firebird VII, or an ASAT semi-hollow bluesboy. Granted, if there were they would probably sell like crap because they're all kind of niche guitars. But they're the ones I love!

But when it comes down to it, I think EBMM has a winning business model for sure. I would rather they offer a reasonable selection of great guitars that are unique in their own right than try to copy every guitar out there.

I haven't heard an ASAT in the flesh but when you compare Albert playing Counrty Boy on an AL and on an ASAT there is no competition. I also have a dvd with Steve Trovatto playing in the style of Albert on an ASAT and again the sound of the AL wins hands down.

If I want the blues sound of a neck bucker I'll go to my Les Paul but I never use it.
I use the AL and dial in some extra gain and I've got all the blues tones I need.

I'm not gonna turn this into a "ASAT flame" 'cos that's not the done deal on this forum. All I will say is that after playing an AL, I want for nothing else and the Les Paul and Tele can stay in their cases. I was a Gibbie man for over 30 years - but no more !

Did you see the post on TGP where I posted both Utube's of Al playing Country Boy on an ASAT and the other playing his AL? No comparrison is right.

50+ posts so far on this EBMM thread, and all positive, well except one guy who said they're too small, lol.

Spud man, that Rolls AL of yours is killer. Gotta get me one.

Btw, Spud, I had an ASAT. Nice guitar, but there's something robotic about G&L's, imo.

guys where the link to this ASAT vid with AL??? I would love to hear it!!!! Post it please!

I played a Legacy yesterday, really nice axe, i was very impressed! Kicks the butt of a strat, but not of an EBMM.

Here ya go, Rob. Granted, the recording quality is better with the AL, but you can easily hear the difference besides that.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGU63KqXuZk"]YouTube - Albert Lee - Country Boy[/ame]

[nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOFpQd7aJ9U"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia]

Woops! Just looked at it again, and it's a Tele! My bad.

YEE HAW! I love it! Great tune to solo over to get your country chops goin.

The ASAT doesnt stand a chance! Lucky i saved my pennies a few months ago and didnt buy that ASAT i was getting keen on! His tone kicks ASS with the Pinkburst on the 2nd vid. Dunno about the balding bass player though...........joking! go BP!

How good is Albert!?! Just excellent!

I used to gig with a Legacy hardtail and an ASAT Special. Both very nice guitars. I could not, however, really get into the MFD ceramic pickups of the Special, nor those on my S-500. In fact, the reason I sold my S-500 was primarily due to the pickups, and after that is when I started looking for that Silo Sp I left hanging on the wall a few years before. Since then I've had a couple offers to trade one of my Silos for a Legacy, in like-new condition. Thanks, but no thanks.

Spot on Candid. When you hear Albert playing the ASAT and the AL on those clips, you have to say that the AL tone beat the ASAT hands down.

The ASAT played by Steve Trovatto in his Albert Lee Hotlicks video didn't do any favours either. Ok I know were prolly biased here and I've learnt from Poppa not to flame other guitars. I'm just sticking up for the AL.

The AL I have is Black Cherry (Cheery) burst and is a lovely looking thing in the flesh! It's my fav out of my guitars. Candid - you have gotta try an AL (straight from the factory - you'll love it!!!)

Slightly OT I know, but I visited Machinehead last weekend and for the first time I tried out EB's that I hadn't played b4. When comparing the necks of all the EB's I find it strange that people say that the AL neck is thick/big - no way !!!
