EBMM tremolo bridge knives, problem?

not sure if this has been discussed already in this forum, but I found this from other site:

Has any of you experienced similar problems with EBMM tremolo bridges?

Never! The best trems out there!! All trems have a "normal" wear and tear footprint as it were.

Those conditions, as such, can ONLY come from abuse or completely mis-aligned set up.

i use graphite lub on the knife one time a year

and i've never see that

The trem in those pictures has to have been used A LOT. Divebombs on a regular basis and most likely a guy who doesn't know how to set up his guitar.

Plus, that's a part which WILL get worn. You'll see some wear and tear on any knife edge style tremolo which has been used at all. It's the nature of the beast. It will happen to every flavor of Floyd, vintage, JP, Schaller, Kahler, etc. which has knife edges. If you don't want the knife edges to wear down, don't play the guitar.

yes. but its not a "problem" because its only the top coat of chrome paint or what ever it is. doesn't effect tuning stability or performance what so ever + you cant see it when the bridge is against the studs. only when you remove all the strings and then you can see it when the bridge sort of is not touching the studs. but even then you have to look closely . doesn't bother me at all

I don't know about the setup, but the person how took those pics mentioned that he's not using trem a lot. But if Big Poppa says that there's no problem, I believe him. Enough of this issue, don't want to bring negative stuff up for no reason. Peace.

Nope he didnt use it that often, If you read the thread you'll see he ended up replacing it.

And he (from what i read) is very proficient at setting up a guitar.

I've never seen anything like this before. Inappropriate set-up could have done this. My Version is:
the Tremolo wasn't floating/adjusted properly and it was angled so the motion of the bridge was having its corners grinding on the studs (In any sort of trem diving). I am surprised the guy never heard anything ?!

Customer Service probably have handled this already!

And he (from what i read) is very proficient at setting up a guitar.

I wonder whether he could explain to me what happens to the bridge if its been having its action adjusted while the strings were in tune (full tension)?! Somewhere in this question is the answer of this problem perhaps?

Guys, this is between the guy that had the problem and EBMM customer service, who handled the problem. There's no point in speculating or passing along heresay.

I'm going to close it down since it's been discussed, but I'd like to reiterate what's been said by BP and crew a zillion times: if any of you have a specific issue with your guitar, contact your dealer first and then customer service. You know you will be taken care of.
