my wife thinks they are ugly too:p

LOL my wife worked at washbur* back in the ealry 90's and when I bought my blue evh I had to explain to her (we were dating) that this guitar is hand made and top quality. She still stood by her employer until 93' when steve stevens came in and held up a pink evh and told the a'r guys this is what I want in a guitar my wife said out loud my boyfriend has one of those! hahaha

True story!

It's easy to knock Fender but lets face it they are in a different league than EBMM when it comes to volumes of production, and they make guitars at just about all price points.

BP has said it's impossible now to produce a quality cheap guitar in the US (hence the SUB is discontinued) yet Fender produce the Highway 1's and others at a good price (for a US guitar). I have seen lots of very good reviews for some Fender guitars over the past year or so (highway 1's, Classic player series etc). However quality does seem to be inconsistent, though it sould seem not as inconsistent as Gibson.

Many people seem to believe that Fender are producing the best instruments they ever have!.

PS. I own no Fenders and 1 EBMM

Good old fashioned Research and Development.....Have an artist beg for oneof our guitars for free and then take it to a competitor ro copy who is going to stroke your ego and tie you up as an endorsee and the only guy shocked when the guitar doesnt sell is the poor artist. Im not saying that Steve Stevens did that it just seems familiar...heheheh

the girlfriend thinks the AL AND the Axis are ugly

I did too at first, so maybe she will see the light :D

This just kills me everytime someone says it!!!!
I think they're works of art. I'm not just saying that because I love the EBMM brand either.
I guess everything is suppose to look like a Tele, Strat or LP!?

Has she seen SpudMurphy's gorgeous black cherry burst AL? If she doesn't drool over that baby, I'd have her vision tested. :D

Pic, Spud? (or Foggy.. whoever gets here first!)
Sorry for the delay - just finished working week 3 of 4 in Scotland and trying to enjoy my 27 hours at home before the return trip.
I really have to get some new pictures but heres some I took when I first got my AL

Fogman......that's the reason I don't have tattoos....I think I might end up having them done by someone who's QUITE good at drawing things.
Once played in a band with a guy who had bad tattoos of John Travolta, when we asked him why he was very upset "Have you never heard of Elvis???"

I understand that totally. When i first saw the Axis (first EBMM I ever had seen) I didn't think it was necessarily ugly, it just had to grow on me, which it has. When I first saw the AL however, it was kinda like a "woah... now that's different." After seeing so many of them on here in different color combos and hearing some of them, I actually really like them now.

Let's call it an acquired taste ;)

I used to race mountain bikes, and the funniest thing ever was bikes that had a decal saying "Designed in the USA"
